This month the weather shifts to autumn - darker skies filled with crisp rains and late summer blooms past their prime. As with all wild transitions, it’s a time of mystery.

𝙏𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙙 is a solo exhibition by Claire Elliott that captures moments of overripe abundance that circumvent “the garden” as a site of meticulous and precise labor.

This exhibition is a continued exploration of the human relationship to plant life - from ignorance to desire. Through painting and sculpture, Claire Elliott considers the folkloric allure of ripe fruits and potent seed, the labors of the gardener, and the cunning stealth of the forager. Recognizing the garden as a site of transformation and mystery, she looks for moments when plants surprise and enchant.

Recognizing the garden as a site of transformation and mystery, she looks for moments when plants surprise and enchant. The fictional projection of an orderly nature - forever flowering and devoid of dead leaves - has made us less curious about the plants that surround us. The work in Tending to Wild seeks the thrill that ripeness and seasonal abundance can provoke.

Level Head by Douglas Burns
📍 Where: Well Well Projects, 8371 N Interstate Ave #1, Portland
📅 Dates: November 7 – November 29, 2026
✨ Opening Reception: First Saturday, November 7, 5PM – 8PM

Level Head is a new exhibition by Portland artist Douglas Burns at Well Well Projects, opening this November. Made as a tribute to his children, the show features collaged paintings that at times incorporate his kids’ drawings and direct collaborations. The work explores family, memory, and shared creativity by blending everyday materials with the spontaneity of childhood mark-making. Level Head offers an intimate look at what happens when the boundaries between making art and making a life become wonderfully blurred.

🌿 Tending to Wild — Claire Elliott
📍@wellwellprojects
🗓️October 3 – November 1, 2026
✨Opening reception: Saturday, October 3, 5–8 PM

Through painting and sculpture, Claire Elliott explores our relationship to plant life — the folkloric allure of ripe fruit and potent seed, the labor of the gardener, the stealth of the forager. The show takes its title from Milton’s Paradise Lost, where Eve describes the ceaseless task of tending the Garden of Eden.

Last Weekend to view our current exhibition!

𝙎𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙨
Catherine Reinhart
@catherine_reinhart_studio

𝙎𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙨 is an interdisciplinary exhibition of works honoring grief and labor - manual, artistic, and maternal. Artist Catherine Reinhart encrusts, mends, and adorns abandoned textiles, creating modern relics from work gloves and domestic textiles. Haunting the borderlands of construction sites, vacant lots, and disheveled bedrooms, she explores thresholds to the unmonumental. By holding the damage in the mends, these objects become records of care and an archive of repetition.

“Domestic Divining Rods” (wall) & “Material | Maternal Studies” (below).

These pieces include bowls of my son’s radiant curls, window weights 🪟(usually hidden) gilded in gold and silver, and old table legs painted in gouache to mimic documentation scales from museum archives.

These works are an amalgamation of objects in my Topography of Dwelling series, from which my substack gets its name.

Read my most recent post to learn more in depth about these pieces!

Come see these works, alongside several others ✨Last chance✨

𝙎𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙨 refers to labor: manual, maternal, and artistic. It also references typical shift work, which occurs in disparate chunks outside of the 9-to-5. Similarly, this work of an artist and caregiver falls outside of operating hours, in the margins of life. Of artistic and maternal labor, the artist is accustomed. These physical adorations of manual labor are an expansion of these themes.

This margin work is often invisible and underpaid. In the case of motherhood, it is not compensated at all. This work is iterative and full of care. Rubbings of graves marked ‘mother’, mending, beading, and stitching parallel these humane actions. This exhibition both adorns and mourns these uncelebrated efforts.
