Hey, not woodwork, music or usual workshop business, but my son and I are running 1 and a half miles in the Robin Hood Mini Marathon this Sunday. In support of Zephyrs Charity and their work with bereaved people after the loss of a child or baby... running in memory and love for my son Zeph! The wind behind my back (or in my face!)
.
We are planning to smash last year's time of 16 minutes, if Sol doesn't fall over this time.
.
People have been so generous so far, we have made out target of £250, but why not smash that too, eh? If you feel able to spare a couple of coins, and really, that is enough - all proceeds will go to this small charity that is doing pretty big things around here... thank you THANK YOU!
.
This is also my way of forcing myself to run the full half marathon next year too, I'm saying it out loud. See you on Sunday!

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances faced by our amazing venue @wemakeourway, we have had to reschedule this Saturday’s sold out show with @daudi @_ddee and @floatbandfloat. This show will now take place on Saturday 3 October, doors at 8pm. Same artists. Same @tiedupinnotts gig bakes. Same exquisite vibes. If you have a ticket and you are able to make this new date then you don’t need to do anything - we’ll see you then. If you cannot make it on the new date then ticket bookers will receive an email explaining how to get a refund. We’re really sorry for any disappointment x by @wemakeourway

@nickthecraftsman and I have recently been preparing oak wood, lots and lots of oak wood, for a project we're doing with the @nationalcivilwarcentre ...

We're stopping to take photos quite regularly, to document the process, which can sometimes interrupt the flow of the work.

But really, why stop at all to take pictures? Here's a wood's eye view of this world: passing a plank through the planer (a machine otherwise known as the multidimensional beauty revealer) that will eventually become part of a chair.

INK and INSIGHTS is back baby.

A space to use writing as a way of paying attention, to ourselves, each other and the world around us. Rather than focusing on craft or producing polished work, the workshops invite exploration, reflection and connection through mindful and creative writing. All writing levels welcome.

Details:

Place: Of course it’s at @wemakeourway for a cosy, intimate and safe space.

Time: Same time and day as beforehand, Thursdays 7-8:30pm with one slight difference it will be 2 weeks of the month and not three, as I want to host more online sessions and weekend retreats ❤️

Payment: This has been adjusted to be as accessible as possible on a sliding scale from £7-£15

DM me if you are interested in attending.
Booking blocks of classes are very welcome as they do fill up.

More details to come! 🌷✨

@either_or_notts is an electronic folk music project from Ellis Blake of Weird Fields, Krupps, Shit Hippies and various other excellent, experimental projects. Ambient, hazy, wonky, very good indeed.

Come to @wemakeourway on the afternoon of Saturday 8 August (3pm start) to see Either/Or perform in a very special, intimate environment in the company of the equally excellent @marlene.ribeiro.27 and @rise_athina_b.

Tickets are £10 and include free communal snacks baked by the one and only @tiedupinnotts. BYOB. Link in bio.

Helmed by Brighton-based musicians @youandthehorizon (formerly one-sixth of the magnificent Slum of Legs) and @rdyermusic (who performed memorably in support of Haiku Salut last year), @rise_athina_b turn found sounds, layered violin, bells, polyrhythms, harps, chants and charms into semi-improvised paeans to time, life and joy.

Named after a Brighton shipwreck and a fragment of a lyric by the aforementioned Slum of Legs, Athina B are a band playing from the liminal spaces - capturing the sounds of twilight, halfway between dream and memory where birds are caught mid-flight, lit by a setting sun.
