If you’re not changing, you’re choosing.

A few years ago, Wende and I had a choice.

Keep doing what was comfortable…
Or fight for our marriage.

I still remember Wende looking at me and saying:

“I’m willing to fight for us. Are you?”

The truth is, we couldn’t fight for us until we each fought for ourselves.

She found a mentor, a community, and became the strongest version of herself.

I had to face my own battle.

Alcohol.

Two and a half years ago, I disconnected from the world for 30 days to reconnect with myself. Since then, I’ve been relentlessly focused on becoming the man I was created to be without alcohol.

We both did the internal work before we could rebuild what everyone else now sees on the outside.

Today, we’re celebrating 26 years of marriage.

Our family is healthier than it’s ever been, and watching our two young men do the work alongside us has been one of life’s greatest gifts.

It was worth every hard conversation.
Every uncomfortable decision.
Every step toward becoming better.

Along the way, we retired Wende from construction, tore down companies that no longer fit who we were becoming, and started building a life that’s aligned with our purpose.

What’s next?

I have been sooo unbelievably blessed in my life. In the people I have met and loved, the ones I have loved and lost, all that bring me joy and sometimes sadness. We get to be grateful for the sadness!

I have been in a season where I am taking a pause to see what is next for me. I have a light in me that has dual personalities, part of it is wanting to shine for the world and do all that I know I am capable of...the other part wants to hide and is afraid of what will happen if I do. This sometimes feels like paralysis.

I have fought many battles and won, I have lost a few too... the hardest one to fight is with and for yourself. I believe that I have a gift to come alongside other women who are in this space, this battle, this paralysis and help them. Help them to figure out who they are, who they want to be, how they want to show up for themselves, for God, their family and the world...if they just knew where to start.

I have taught myself how to make a chi tea latte. I finished it and was admiring my masterpiece,I was about to sit with myself and my thoughts, I noticed the message that the universe had for me today..."live"!

There is power in knowing how to be (that one took me a while) and now it is time for the next step...and that is to share what I know my truth to be. To LIVE and help others do the same.

I am not sure what this journey will look like, but I am here for it. I know I have the support of my amazing husband @stevedvalentine, my boys @christianzvalentine and @chasevalentine96 as well as a sisterhood that is never failing.

There are some things in life you are so excited for that you anticipate ....marriage, having kids, accomplishing your dreams.

There are some things in life you know will happen, and they feel so far away that you choose not think about them...Christmas in June, the loss of an ailing pet or loved one.

Then there are things you never imagine will happen in your lifetime. Things that happen so fast it takes your breath away, turns life upside down and alters your universe forever.

One of those things just happened. 😭💔

My Nephew Jay has left us on this earth to thrive and survive with only his love and our memories of him to comfort us.

Jay was a fighter, and a lover! Such a kind and loving soul. I have so many things I want to share and tell you all about him...it's too raw just now.

I will tell you what I know and believe. The work that human did for his soul in the short 35 years he was here... will take that soul on to places that most of us cannot dream or or even comprehend. The impact he made will live on forever, the love he gave and received will be eternal.

We love you so damn much Jay, and I really have to believe that you left us knowing that. I'm sure your body was tired, and I know your soul is on fire and ready for its next adventure.

It breaks my heart to even post this.
Lilly and Stella lost their mom last month.
Blackrock Coffee is doing a give back day today at the Lake Pleasant/Happy Valley location.

I do t brag on my kids enough! This kid is volunteering g today to wrap gifts for families that are in need of some extra love this season. He is selfless, a servant, handsome and a heart of gold! This guy!
Today is 1 year since the last time he had a drink.
1 year since he left everything that was “normal” to him and put himself in a place that was wholly uncomfortable and safe to him to be better…for him.
1 year since the start of a transformation that has made him a completely whole and different man than the one who started the journey to be better.
1 year since the journey started to make his life better for him, and the whole world will be impacted in some way because of it.
Steve Valentine, I am so proud of you. We are so proud of you. For taking the journey, and continuing the journey. For the impact you have made and will continue to make. For sharing your love and wealth of knowledge with the people close to you and complete strangers alike. For showing up and doing the work…everyday.
You have a vulnerability and grace that EVERYONE can benefit from and I love that you make it available. I’m honored to be doing life with you in this season and I’m excited for all that is to come!

Congratulations on 1 year, here’s to growth and sharing. I am so excited for what is ahead, for the vision you have and the way you continue to impact.
