I keep a journal of my pour overs and espresso shots so that I can recreate what I like about them. I used to waste a lot of time and coffee trying to dial in the flavor when a simple system of documenting the grind settings, brew times, and tasting notes was all I needed. by @wendtils

Hiring managers: please remove this section from your job descriptions, especially that last part. As an applicant or current employee, I expect that ALL my responsibilities are clearly stated in writing, and to be made aware if they change, because I am a human being deserving of basic courtesy. What if I one day made the executive decision to change my responsibilities and not notify you? It's a two-way street.

Job descriptions can have a life beyond the application:

1. They define swim lanes and prevent colleagues from getting confused. A designer is not a project manager. Create clarity around how each role uses the project management software so we only have to talk about this once, get the work done, and avoid pointing fingers.

2. They are defensible. A year into a role, you might have slowly, without realizing it, taken on more responsibility than intended. A job description can be used as a means to reset expectations with coworkers as a business decision. You can blame the document, not the person. And if it needs updating, then update it.

3. They are useful to revisit during annual reviews, to evaluate if roles have evolved, if expectations haven't been met, or if expectations have been exceeded.

I'm sure there are more uses for job descriptions than this. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Let's discuss. by @wendtils

A chocolate bar illustration that somehow works with the color green. I really enjoy the palette of this one. Swipe for the HEX values and application.
