Had a wonderful date yesterday, visiting a new-to-us #imdependentbookstore !
@octavias_bookshop in Pasadena is a Black-owned, woman-owned #indiebookstore highlighting BIPOC authors. (And named after Octavia Butler.)
I purchased IT’S ONLY DANCING, the recently published YA Novel by @jasminepics

It’s almost 12:30 pm here in Los Angeles, and I’m already exhausted from the day. I didn’t sleep well— pain has been waking me up and keeping me up.
This morning I had a follow-up visit with my rheumatologist, to check my labs and to discuss new symptoms. We talked about the walker I find myself relying on more and more. We talked about me needing an MRI.
Last night, in anticipation of this appointment, I made myself a deal— after the appointment and before coming home, I stopped at Starbucks for a mocha Frappuccino. I needed a treat to look forward to.
Anyone else find it helpful to have something pleasant planned for after a doctors appointment?

I stopped by one of the little free libraries in my neighborhood and donated a copy of LOS ANGELES WITH KIDS, @momsla ‘s book. The book is an incredible resource, with more than 250 ideas “for ways to have fun, explore SoCal, and never have a boring weekend again.”
