I haven’t had the urge to post much regarding my graduation because truly it wasn’t until this weekend where it felt like it was worth celebrating. Laughs, memes, and all the fun jokes aside, we are going to be vulnerable for a bit. I say I’m going to do things, and usually I say it with enough confidence that some believe in incredulous statements that come out of my mouth. How I said I would graduate undergrad in three years, how I said I would get my PhD, how I said even though I don’t want to be “captain save a hoe” I would be a small change in psychology. I achieved that. And more.

The biggest struggle throughout this all was how I felt about myself. It wasn’t easy in the slightest. I would work a practicum, a supplemental, have school, work weekends to make money for rent, and still come home to a mountain of chores and homework. For so long all of this felt like I just needed to make it through. To push forward and just keep pushing throughout it all. And so, I pushed. I’ve been a student for so long some times I forgot my identity. I felt awful about who I was and what I was doing. I had reminders though, reminders of how loved I am. Reminders that I was worth something. Reminders because I have incredible loving people in my life. There is so much more to write and so much more photos that I will be shoving on you.
But for now, PhD graduate Dr. Strawberry Kurosaki will do.
I love you all by @weowstrawberries
