YOU'RE INVITED: OPENING RECEPTION for Gabe Weis | Containing Multitudes Th 12 Nov 530p. On view thru We 23 Dec. An envelope-pushing blend of neo-Cubism and street art, the paintings of Gabe Weis shake viewers from any semblance of complacency. In Containing Multitudes, Weis addresses the canvas with renewed energy and palpable ferocity. His multifaceted visages—fragmented, layered, and assembled through shifting perspectives—explore the complexities of human relationships, from intimate connections to fleeting encounters. Drawing on the fractured perspectives of Pablo Picasso and George Condo, alongside the raw immediacy and cultural references of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Weis creates compositions in which contradictory emotions and competing identities coexist. Artifacts of popular culture ground these works in contemporary life, balancing disruption with tenderness and revealing the persistent desire for connection beneath the masks we all wear. #bayareaartist #sfartexhbition #sfartdealers #cubism #contemporaryart by @wessling.art

YOU'RE INVITED: "MondoChromatic | New West Coast Colorways" OPENING RECEPTION Th 01 Oct 530p. From the vibrant edges and colorful planes of the Bay Area Figurative Movement to the psychedelic era’s rainbow-splashed paisley patterns, shying away from bold experimentation has never been part of the West Coast ethos. And so the tradition, as it were, of bucking traditions continues to this day. In this exhibition, @nora_vandenberg's vegetative compositions are anything but the brown and green of real life plants; @leonphillipsart's loops and swirls swim past, leaving candy-colored contrails in their wake; @robertszotstudio stitches together brilliant scraps of exuberant pigment, and his collabs with juliabadham apply them to a topsy-turvy architectural framework; A glass relief by whitneymothernature weaves together a carnival of brightly colored bucatini; @rgenotti floods the senses with a murmuration of neo-Pointillist dynamism; and @donhershman puts a delightfully unsubtle point on it all with a supersaturated geometric party disguised as still life. Bold is beautiful. Bright is right. This is a MondoChromatic fever dream from which we hope we never awake.
