Tennessee State University—the land of golden sunshine. What a journey it has been. I arrived as a nervous freshman, unsure if TSU was truly meant for me, but God knew exactly where He wanted me to be.

TSU became more than a university—it was where I grew spiritually, academically, and personally. The friendships, the lessons, and the opportunities shaped me in ways I’ll carry forever.

Through long nights, challenges, and moments of doubt, God guided my steps and reminded me that I was never alone.

As I prepare to walk across the stage in just 3 days, my heart overflows with gratitude—for TSU, my professors, my classmates, and above all, God’s unfailing grace.

Thank you, Tennessee State University, for the sunshine and the unforgettable journey.

I don’t even know where to begin—this journey has truly been something indescribable. In just a few days, I’ll be getting pinned, and the reality of it all is finally sinking in. Never once did I take my nursing journey lightly. Coming from a two-generation household of nurses, I pushed myself to become the third, determined to carry on the legacy that was built before me.

With God’s guidance, I made it through every challenge this path brought me—from the late nights and early mornings, to the tears, the doubts, and the moments where I questioned how everything was going to work out. Every struggle taught me something, and every victory reminded me why I started.

I remember my Uncle Buster—sitting with him every morning when he was sick, listening to him sing Lean on Me, and how he would always give my sister and I candy. In those moments, I realized I wanted to be a nurse—someone people can depend on, both in their strongest moments and in their weakest. That memory has stayed with me and fueled my passion every step of the way.

I’m especially thankful for my family. Thank you for encouraging me, pushing me, and supporting me in every way while I completed nursing school. Your love, patience, and belief in me carried me through more than you’ll ever know.

To my FNS—y’all truly made nursing school a breeze. Having people I could depend on, call, laugh with, vent to, and lean on when everything felt overwhelming made all the difference. This semester brought more obstacles than I ever imagined, especially with losing my granddaddy… but y’all were there through it all. I will never forget that

To my cohort—we definitely had our ups and downs, but through it all, we showed up for each other. Whether it was answering homework questions, sharing study guides, or reminding each other about assignments, we held each other up every step of the way. I’m so godly proud of all of us. We truly deserve this moment.

Standing at this finish line, I’m grateful, humbled, and incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. This journey wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it. Here’s to new beginnings, answered prayers, and the next chapter of my nursing career. by @westfieldmk

Dear ole alpha psi, I love you

To the awesomely sophisticated Alpha Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority incorporated

Being chosen to be a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has shown me the true meaning of sisterhood, the power of unity, and the strength that comes from standing with women who uplift, inspire, and challenge one another to grow. It has taught me grace under pressure, confidence in my purpose, and pride in continuing a legacy built on service, scholarship, and excellence.

174MK : I’m so glad I gained 173 sisters— I wouldn’t trade y’all for anything. Each of you has added something meaningful to my life, and I’m grateful for the love and support we share. I can’t wait for all the memories we’ll continue to make together.

To the clamps: From the late-night car rides to the jam sessions and all the laughs in between, every moment has meant so much to me. I love how Alpha Kappa Alpha has brought us closer together and strengthened our bond in ways I’ll never forget. I’m grateful for the memories we’ve made and excited for the ones still to come.

To my co chair VJ: Thank you for all your help as we planned events and stressed about getting everything done. Your support, teamwork, and patience made every challenge easier to handle.

To the baby 75: I’m so happy to welcome you to the 75 Vine. If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I know you will flourish as a member of Alpha Psi, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish.
