This scene is fictional. The questions behind it are not.

Across Wisconsin, communities are being asked to make room for massive data center projects that can transform farmland, infrastructure, energy use, taxes, and entire towns.

In Menomonee, city officials signed a secrecy agreement with a data center developer. Two months later, the city changed its zoning language to classify data centers as “warehousing.” The public did not learn about the proposed $1.6 billion project until more than a year later.

In Port Washington, hundreds of acres of former agricultural land are being developed for a massive AI data center campus. When a full environmental review was initially discussed, internal emails showed the developer was “panicking.” That full review was ultimately not required.

Then Port Washington voters overwhelmingly supported requiring public approval for similar major tax districts in the future.

But the existing deal was already done. That is what this scene is about. Not whether technology is good or bad. Not whether data centers should exist.

It is about who gets a seat at the table when billions of dollars arrive in a small community.

If zoning rules can change, environmental requirements can change, and major deals can move forward before the public fully understands what is happening, then we should be asking a very simple question:

Who do the rules actually protect?

Progress should not require silence.

Economic development should not require secrecy.

And the people who live on the land should never be the last ones to know what is being decided around them.

This a fictional scene inspired by a very real conversation happening in Wisconsin right now.

Last night, it came to life 🔥

A room full of people who came to stand inside the world before the world was ready to show itself.

We premiered the trailer. We opened up the build; the costumes, the props, the panel, the footage no one had seen.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made the first look feel like a first step. This is the beginning of something bigger.

Trailer’s live now at soulfighterfilm.com. Link in bio.

This industry is crazy.

Last summer I booked a co-star on Chicago Med opposite a series regular, with a storyline that included intimacy scenes. I shot for three days, and on day two they put me on check availability to come back for Episode 4.

I wrapped feeling like I finally had my break.

A couple weeks later, I was released from Episode 4, but was told there was still a possibility my character could return later in the season.

Then the trailer for the season premiere dropped… and there I was. It hinted to my character being a love interest for one of the main doctors.

I thought, “Holy shit. This is happening.”

And then the episode aired.

After three days of shooting, multiple scenes, and everything that came with this storyline… this little scene above was what remained.

That’s this business.

You can go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in a matter of weeks. Scenes get cut. Storylines change. Characters disappear. Sometimes it has absolutely nothing to do with the work you did.

But here’s the part I’m choosing to hold onto:

10 years ago, I was an extra on this exact same set.

I remember being there, watching the actors work, thinking “yea I can do that”.

Ten years later, I walked back onto that set as a co-star, worked opposite a series regular for three days, and proved something to myself that I think matters more than how much of it ultimately made the final cut:

I can do this job.

Obviously I wish you could have seen everything we shot. But I’m still proud of this little clip and everything it represents.

From background to co-star on the same show.

Keep grinding. You never know how far away you actually are and at the end of the day there is no better place to work then on a film set. #actor #acting #chicagomed #networktv by @westhunter1989
