Just two weeks after Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa released their landmark collaborative album The Godbody, Kurupt steps back into the spotlight with the new Westlyfe-directed visual for his solo cut, “Nine & Chrome Fiend,” featuring West Coast veteran Kokane.

Premiering today through Vevo, “Nine & Chrome Fiend” is already the fifth visual released from The Godbody, continuing an aggressive run of videos surrounding the September 18 album.

The visual is firmly rooted in Kurupt’s West Coast history. Cameras follow the Dogg Pound emcee backstage and onstage alongside longtime partner Daz Dillinger, while fellow West Coast heavyweights DJ Quik, MC Eiht and Ras Kass also appear. Other scenes strip things down to Kurupt standing against a stark white backdrop beneath a hanging microphone, with Kokane behind him as Kurupt tears through the Rakim and Nick Wiz-produced track.

“ Nine & Chrome Fiend” serves as one of The Godbody’s individual spotlight records, alongside Rakim’s “A Different Kind” and Masta Killa’s “Nights Over Brooklyn.” The song also reconnects Kurupt with Kokane, whose unmistakable voice appears elsewhere on the album’s opening track, “Goin’ Down.”

The video adds another chapter to a rollout that began with Rakim’s “A Different Kind” — his first solo, self-produced track in 15 years — followed by visuals including “DPG Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang DPG” and “Rabbit.” by @westlyfe_
