Woke up on the sandbar, algae bloom or something rust like was in the water. Hard to tell cause the island was already disappearing with the tide. Kobe repositioned the boat about 24 times. Amber glass was always within reach. And the sound of claps at the kava circle and a bucket of water through a window. A psychedelic dream is all it feels like.

Every time the anticipation hits while boating to waves. Can’t quite ever tell what the swell or wind is doing. So to win is to sit on that boat through it all. Eventually a door or window opens. Worst case back to the bar. Expecting much from any trip as you get older starts to not make sense. It starts to be just the moments in between or that one wave a session that makes you smile. Before reality sets. Sometimes the gibberish talks through out day and night keep the ball rolling. A mental reset. A world where nothing needs to make sense. Sometimes it’s the swear words you learn in another language that makes those boat rides fill with laughter. Caita. Even though I think I was mispronouncing that till just now.

I’m not overly knowledgeable about surf board design kinda just run off feeling like the general population. But I will say after experimenting with shapes the last handful of years I’ve gotten way better at hopping back and forth on drastic changes in equipment and being able to adjust quickly and or pick up on the nuance of boards. The words easy to use and understand are fast,drivey, controlled, loose, lively things of that nature. The overall easiest one to use is fun. If you aren’t having fun on your board you need to change something up. And as bizarre as a a board can look or feel the ecstatic feelings you can receive from something like that are really what you should be looking for. Not everyone’s meant for the F1 mayhem or Channel Islands and there waist high local mushburger. Sometimes u need a caddilac with the broken seat you need to adjust Everytime. Or the Corolla with the hand crank windows, or the mean impala. Dont matter the board length or wave quality just get something that makes you smile and maybe try a chop hop like your 12 again
