Welcome to Boston @adleyrutschman 🎨

Roman Anthony entered his first Spring Training thinking he’d be spending the next month in Fort Myers to prepare for his first full major league season with the Boston Red Sox. Now? The 21-year old is in Houston, sitting just three wins away from a World Baseball Classic tournament title on Team USA.

Some circumstances would create the opportunity for Anthony to join the roster, where he took it, and has flat out ran with it. In four games played thus far as the team’s starting left fielder, the Roman Empire has batted .333/.474/1.007, collecting five hits and six RBIs, a stat that leads the team, showing that the lights are never too big for him.

Anthony has also already collected a career defining moment in the tournament. Playing against Team Mexico, he’d smack a 417 foot three-run homer off the facade off the second-deck. Becoming the youngest player in WBC history to hit a home run, it would wound up being the game winner, leading Team USA to the win during pool play and an overall 3-1 record.

His play has taken the baseball world by storm, and he has helped lead Team USA to a trip to the quarterfinals. The first title since 2017 is in reach, and the quest for Anthony and the rest of the team continues tonight with a win or go-home matchup against Team Canada tonight at 8:00 PM.

No matter what happens the rest of the tournament, the “Big Aura” has shown the world that he has fully arrived, not just as the face of the Red Sox, but a face of baseball.

This series was great for Jarren Duran. He went 7-for-15 with a walk, a double, a triple, three RBIs, and even stole two bases — one of which was home. You’d think this would be one of his happier series of the season. Unfortunately, today a Cleveland Guardians fan decided to come after Duran, saying heinous things about the hardships he went through, overcame, and recently discussed in the Red Sox documentary. The fan said, “You should have k****d yourself when you had the chance.”
A horrible thing to say to someone who has endured so much and bravely chosen to share his story to spread awareness.

Jarren, we stand with you. Through thick and thin, through good times and bad, through wins and losses — none of that matters to us. All that matters is that you’re HERE. That you are able to help spread awareness about such a serious struggle facing so many around the world. Mental health is no joke, and it takes true courage to speak openly about something so serious and often considered “taboo.”
You’re an amazing human being and an incredible role model — not only for those who watch you play baseball but also for those who see the man you are and the man you’ve become throughout your years in the Red Sox organization.

We love you, and we’ll forever stand with you. Keep being you, man.

And to all of our followers and supporters — never forget, we stand with YOU as well. We’re always here to listen and to talk. Hit our DMs if you ever need anything at all. Here at WeTalkSox, we’re not just a fan base — we’re a family. Stay strong, everyone.

With love,
The WeTalkSox Team
