Provide on-the-ground assistance at community events near voting sites and answer voters’ questions about casting their ballots. No previous experience necessary!

“I felt a need to be there on the front lines to see what is actually going on at the polls,” she explains in Forbes.

This Constitution Day 📜, we’re thinking about the parts of election law that rarely make headlines:

➡️ The years-long backlog of eligibility reviews
➡️ The compliance questions that keep voter registration drives from getting shut down before they start
➡️ The quiet legal support keeping experienced election officials on the job when they’re facing harassment or intimidation
➡️ The volunteers monitoring ballot canvassing and certification meetings, where a single procedural challenge can stall a count long after polls close

URGENT: Calling all law students in Wisconsin (or Minnesota)! 📣 @ACLUofWI needs nonpartisan election observers to monitor Central Count locations on Election Day.

As a volunteer, you’ll watch for systemic issues affecting voters as absentee ballots are processed, with full training provided. This is a 6-10 hour, on-site commitment, open to law students, with mentoring and supervision throughout.

Children don’t belong in detention, but they are still detained in Dilley, Texas, at the only remaining family detention center in the country. That’s why Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch stepped up to join Operation Clear Out Dilley.

Our partners at the @Texas_ILC connected her with an eight-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, and their stepmother in San Antonio who were detained at a bus stop while their father watched helplessly from their living room window. Kate successfully secured their release from detention and reunion as a family.
