En Wetterlab celebramos el buen diseño , sin caer en la arrogancia obviamente.
Wolf Karnagel, born in 1940, is a prominent figure in design and education. Hailing from Germany, Karnagel has made significant contributions to the field with his innovative creations and extensive teaching career. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations with renowned manufacturers, publication features, and diverse design projects.

Karnagel’s journey began at the Hochschule der Kunst in Brunswick( University of Art), where he pursued his studies under the guidance of the esteemed Bodo Kapmann. This formative experience laid the foundation for his future success as a designer. After completing his education, Karnagel joined the esteemed Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in Berlin as an associate designer. This position allowed him to refine his skills and gain practical experience within the industry.
Iconic Glass Designs

Karnagel has demonstrated versatility by designing various products across different mediums. Notably, he created two iconic glass ranges for Rosenthal Studio Line: “Joy” in 1969 and “Pandio” in the 1980s. These designs exemplify his ability to combine aesthetic appeal with functionality, resulting in objects that are both visually striking and practical for everyday use.
Epoca: Sterling Silver Flatware

In 1986, Karnagel introduced the “Epoca” flatware range for Wilkens in Bremen. This collection, crafted from sterling silver and heavily silver-plated, showcased his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality. Comprising nearly 40 items, the “Epoca” tableware set exemplifies Karnagel’s dedication to creating comprehensive and cohesive designs.

Wolf Karnagel has left an indelible mark on the design world throughout his long and illustrious career. His ability to merge functionality with aesthetics and his commitment to craftsmanship have made him a celebrated figure within the industry. Whether it be his glassware designs, His legacy as a designer and educator and his role as a juror for the iF Design Award will undoubtedly endure.
