Camping is in our blood! We’re refurbishing a 1986 Hi-Lo 2286d. Can't wait until October 2026!

POSTS STORIES REELS

This lower front door half has bugged me since we bought this RV. So, it was time to raise it 1/2 inch, drill new holes, and reinstall it. It now works perfect! The biggest issue now is remembering to NOT kick it to open, or slam it to shut it.

I finally figured out exactly where the lift strut's should be located for our bed storage area.

Long hikes, out of breadth, and where is Moss Man? Moss Man was taken down because of constant vandalism, according to the park staff. We always got a selfie during every visit to this park. Such a shame that because of a few bad visitors, the rest suffer.

In years past, I've seen things...

We've learned and remembered a lot during our short stay. From curtain disasters, hiking disabilities, small grey and black storage tanks, storage issues, items we forgot to bring even with a list, and front door issues.

We do have solutions to a few of our shake down cruise issues. New curtains using velcro. Taking our age, previous injuries and kinda out-of-shape in consideration during hiking adventures. Add the lift for easier storage under the bed. Move the front door up an inch. And finally, by adding a compost toilet and a gate valve, we would go from a 30-gallon grey water to 47-gallons.

More to come!

After our new adventure started out as little rough, the remaing drive was uneventful.

After we parked and leveled the RV, our neighbor kindly told us that you only have to level from front-to-back. The side-to-side will then level itself. I know I looked at him with a strange look, and thought only if you have a self-leveling RV, which he did not. I thanked him for his advise. But I did tell him that yes, you do have to level side-to-side first, then front-to-back. Out site was indeed sloped to the drivers side

Our new adventures began with our first of what we're certain will not be our last disaster. It was 15-minutes into our drive. With help from a Gilchrist County sheriff, we got our first major problem fixed.

We wanted new adventures again, but...

My only thought was "how on earth did we ever get this stuff packed away so neatly, and efficiently for all those years?" Practice. It's starting to come back to us now.
