It was a great honour for members of the Artnovation team to meet Dr Nello Taietti, President of Fondazione Luciana Matalon, ahead of the opening of Echoes of Renaissance in the Hues of Africa.

NINE SEASONS OF WOLE SOYINKA
The Story Begins.

In 2024, @folukemichael invited Master Artist Tola Wewe to Florence, Italy, with a simple invitation:

“Come and make history. Let us create the Nine Seasons of Soyinka together.”

What followed was an extraordinary journey across nine countries in Europe, travelling with the poems, words and ideas of Wole Soyinka.

We read.
We travelled.
We listened.
We imagined.
And we painted.

From that journey came nine paintings, created by Tola Wewe and Princess Marinay, each revealing a different dimension of Soyinka’s life, ideas and legacy.

The Nine Seasons of Wole Soyinka was first unveiled in 2024 at the residence of the Deputy British High Commissioner in Lagos, Nigeria, marking an important chapter in this evolving story.

But its roots go deeper.

They lead us back to Italy — to Florence, where the vision first took shape, and now to Milan, where the story returns through:

BRIDGES UNWRITTEN by Master Artist Tola Wewe

Some bridges are built with stone.
Others begin as an image, an idea, a conversation.

In Bridges Unwritten, different faces, colours and patterns stand together without losing what makes each one distinct. The gold lines do not erase difference; they connect it.

This is the spirit of Echoes of Renaissance—Africa and Europe meeting through dialogue, cooperation, creativity and shared imagination.

In Bridges Unwritten, every image carries a memory. Every encounter becomes an exchange, every exchange becomes a partnership, and every partnership builds something that did not exist before.

Perhaps the most important bridges are the ones we begin building before we can see them.

What is unwritten can still become architecture.

Today, we unveil The Rock That Remembers—the inaugural artefact in the Echoes of Renaissance Exhibition Series.

This is the first of four cinematic exhibition series leading to our international Dialogue and exhibition in Milan.

Tola Wewe's visual language is rooted in Yoruba philosophy, where symbols become stories, and every figure carries meaning beyond what the eye first perceives.
