The #TDCJ plans to appeal the ruling that they were violating the 8th amendment 🙄😒.

History
The hope of Lioness began as a promise made inside a Texas prison, shaped by survival and a refusal to forget the women we would one day leave behind. In 2022, that promise carried us back to one another on the outside, as we organized to stop the execution of Melissa Lucio. In that moment, we felt the force of our collective power and the truth of what we could build together. In that moment, Lioness was born.

Mission
Lioness Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance is a nonprofit organization founded and led by currently and formerly incarcerated girls, women, and gender-expansive people. Our mission is to end the incarceration and systemic devaluation of our population within the Texas criminal legal system, while also building power within our communities.

Vision
We envision a society where we are spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically free from all forms of violence and harm in the criminal legal system. Our vision can be achieved through radical advocacy, leadership development, community building, grassroot organizing and civic engagement.

Values
We believe that lived experience is the guiding force to change. We believe in honoring each other’s differences while striving to bring one unified voice of currently and formerly incarcerated girls, women and gender expansive people in Texas into all spaces. We believe that jails and prisons by nature perpetuate harm and violence.

We are committed to nurturing a space rooted in the intersectionality of the women's rights movement and grounded in the lived experiences of justice-impacted individuals. We recognize that while all girls, women and gender expansive people face systemic oppression, the ways in which we all experience oppression are different, by race, age, class, gender identity, sexuality, disability, and more. The parenting cottage has been serving the South Plains area since 1982. All services are provided at no cost to families participating.

Evidence based education taught by Degreed and certified educators.
Evening classes to help working parents. (Meets mandated and recommended parenting education requirements)
Provides attendance certifications.
Appropriate for parents with children birth to elementary school age.
Parents increase their knowledge and skills in areas including understanding children and their behavior, communicating with children, positive discipline, social emotional development in children, Co-parenting and providing a safe and secure environment for children.
You must call to register before attending a class (limited class size). Must be present for the entire class to receive credit. Late rivals will not be admitted and is for parents only, no children.

For the parents as teachers home visiting program, your family receives personal visits delivered in the convenience of your home where your child learns best. Services are delivered by a degreed and certified Parent Educator.
service includes developmental screenings for your child, measuring progress towards age appropriate milestones, resource networking and referrals, school readiness tools, early reading and literacy tools for your child, and fun learning experiences.

The Parenting Cottage partners with Texas Tech Public Media/PBS Kids, Texas PBS, and United Way Texas to provide Lantern services in Lubbock County. The Parenting Cottage is a 501c3 non profit organization serving children and families in the South Plains area since 1982. A text that is age appropriate for your child that brings parenting tips and also information on events and resources for families in your community. Plus it's free. Text TEXASKIDS To 274448. As many of you know, I have started a petition. Advocacy starts with action, we must rehabilitate our loved ones, neighbors, and communities. To restore purpose, critical thought, and safety.

This was my comment at the TBCJ August 2026 meeting.

We must look to the adult parole and probation to ensure officers are held to a standard, and open the conversation of amending Texas's current felon voting policy.

The road to recovery isn't easy, but I have faith in the lone star state's inhabitants. With all hands on deck & the uprising generations of leaders, i do believe we can rectify the "Justice system" in our home state.
