“Achieving Greatness”

As a theory, the most surreal and painful inner emotion for someone in their early 20’s to feel is a sense of purpose lost. It’s a frequent, unspoken commonality, especially among young men.

Hopes and grand imaginings, dashed by the realities that maybe our life was predestined for averageness. It’s dreadful to become confused about the nostalgic visions of past.

Men, are (and should be) pressured to achieve a certain level of success. After becoming independent, it is the responsibility of the individual to achieve this, or they must settle for something “more realistic.”

A large majority of men live with a profound cognitive dissonance that they could be, and should be, more than they are. The question that hurts is if the majority of men are correct in thinking this way.

What if, instead of conquering one’s dreams, they qualm them? What if instead of achieving greatness, one achieves a solemn contentment with averageness?

This is a poisonous thought, and I apologize for planting it. Greatness as defined can only be achieved by a select few, otherwise it would not be greatness

The conclusion is that most men are not destined for worldly greatness, they are instead destined to try and be content with what they are capable of.

The only way to cope with this reality is to completely redefine greatness as fulfilling the extent of what one is capable of. If the definition of greatness cannot come from the world, lest the average man be tortured, it must come from a higher power. It must come from God.

So what happens to a man who thinks he is destined for more than what he is capable of?

He will fail, and live to find contentment in smaller things, or be tortured by his jaded disillusionment.

Greatness must be defined by oneself and by God. One either achieves it, or they do not. If they do, good for them. If they don’t, they are forced to live with setting the bar lower. However no man will truly know if he is capable of achieving something until he does.

A man’s greatest conundrum is setting the bar lower when he feels he shouldn’t, without knowing if he would be correct either way. That is the catch-22.

“The hypothesis”

Discovery of oneself is the bridge that gaps longing to contentment.

It is important that we as humans long. That we can imagine a beautiful future to live in. Even in a pit of darkness, a sparkle of light must be present to trust it is all according to plan.

If that small glimmer of light should invoke a smirk across your face, you remain alive. If that small glimmer of light is not there, go touch grass bro.

You may pigeon-hole yourself. Decide what you ought to be or do according to the world, money, family, or societal pressure. Often simple desperation.

To hell with all of it.

Do what you want, ramble, wander, and search for those little sparkles of light. Live free, and do what you enjoy and what is pure. Take pain on the chin like a man. Smirk at the ludicrous idea you can’t make it out, that idea is from the devil. Laugh and dance when you get the chance.

Eventually, those sparkles of light, longing, and joy will create a mosaic of yourself which you can align your being with, and go terminal velocity towards what you love. This is my hypothesis, and I’m runnin’ the damn experiment.

Do it with God behind your back, and I believe you’ve got a real good shot at this short life.

“Shut up and drive”

Only few on this side of the dirt feel the vast tides. Only a few sailors get berated mercilessly against the rocks from the tides they themselves created. Most won’t understand the sweaty loathing and deep fear in the heat of the night; the body, mind, and heart overheating to a complete inertial short circuit. As quick as one turns over on their pillow, horrid fears and regrets turn to visions and ideations of heavenly splendor. Yes, a tiny populace are powered (for a time) not by food, nor sleep, or water, but raw electricity. A high voltage lithium battery pumping full power until it dies and must be recharged. What a gift! To hear the birds chirp and the dawn break after turning an entire sun over three times.

Pain or joy, regret or redemption, sin or righteousness. This is what powers their thermal reactors. Ebbs and flows. Yes! That’s it! The high tides of life’s full color and veracity quickly receding into droughts that suck reservoirs bone dry. Is it not only the best of men or the most evil of men who battle such a leviathan? Their greatness will be defined by the meaning and efficacy of their war. To wake at noon requires war waged by evening.

Shut up and drive.

“And when it came to become an inevitable slaughter, Voss sat. The darkness of the eclipsing moon shrouded the throne room in darkness, and the officers stood in silence, awaiting the words of the King. But Voss sat as a stone, saying nill.

Then, as the moon slipped past the our star, the throne escaped the moons oppressive darkness. A golden beam of Sol’s glow struck down upon his face. It was at this time Voss said the words:

“If we are to be destined for demise, then we will unleash a doomsday over the whole stellar cluster. We will enact an annihilation beyond the metric of our universe, tenfold more merciless than the wicked deity that rules them. They will remember our hateful armageddon against them for all time to come, and they will weep at their own victory, remembering the unrelenting, withering agony we put them through to accomplish it.”

And as the light of a thousand worlds began to fade, Aurelian Voss stood against the darkness.

He arose with thundering might and stomped with force and speed back to his quarters. There he prepared himself to lead his army of billions into the hellfire of hounds, before they might consume them all.”

“Everything I am”

Often times my mind turmoils over how little progress I feel I’ve made in my life. How I still falter with similar struggles, insecurities, or setbacks from years past. My heart gets tied into a bow, from time to time.

But I remember when I look back, that this is a trick by the mind. The mind is corrupted, and is usually the greatest deceiver.

Nostalgia is bittersweet, I’m sure you know. Looking back over times that will never happen again. But it also provides a source of inspiration. The good times and the awful times have no doubt formed you into some type of creation.

I often look back on times where I was unwell. Or tired, exhausted, and stagnated. As I think back, I grow fonder of those memories. The good things kept me trucking along harder than the bad things could stop me. Unbeknownst, in many of these images, I was in deep pain, or about to be. The memories help me to remember who I am.

The past shapes us, but more importantly, our outlook on our past helps shape the future.

My philosophy is one of total control. A philosophy of destiny meant to be fulfilled. This requires an enormous amount of fear, chaos, and loathing. It’s scary to go off the deep and really be a free agent. It usually sucks and it’s hardly ever fun.

Except when you look back and realize, well, actually, it was kinda fun. In order to follow your destiny, you must be willing to be molded, and squeezed like clay. You must put yourself in foreign scenarios that require wit or pressure. Without pressure, nothing can be formed. Enjoy the shitty stuff.

If you’re going to wake up to smell the roses, you’ll have to get your face in some thorns.

Take the leap. Run into the woods in the dark, toward that small glimmer of light way over there. Don’t be afraid, but be excited to trip, eat shit, be lonely, and get lost.

Once you reach that light, no matter how many years or decades it may take, that’s destiny!

That’s what it’s all about. To step into the arena, and fight. To evade the flaming darts of the devils deception.

Remember the things that have formed you, and then keep forming, and then never stop.
Go to battle.

“Wiener Man” (1/2)
 - - - - -

I’m the hotdog guy.

I’m slinging meat missiles in the beautiful, idyllic mountain town of Steamboat. The town is lush with green right now, and it runs parallel to a picturesque river lined with sunbathers. The ski resort looms over the small city.

Mainstreet is a pure bred golden-retriever vein of Americana. Pleasant-smelling shops and yummy joints line the strip. In the summer, tourists pour in to spend their cash, get married, go outside, rodeo, and vacation.

All the while, I’m running a NY-style hotdog cart. A standard shiny aluminum box on wheels. Unfortunately, the tourists are here to spend some serious money, and they don’t want to ruin their dinner appetite with a $5 hotdog. During daytime hours, I prefer local zones and private events if I can get ‘em.

But not at night.

Between 11:30 and 3:00 AM, I am the only food in town. As a chronic insomniac, It’s one of my favorite hours of operation. Not just since it’s busy, but because the bar crowd is anything but boring.

The patrons are either super chill or obliviously annoying. Typically, the oblivious ones are either from the city or just hammered. They’re typically well meaning. I like to play my music loudly, which often will draw a swarm of people hanging around the cart when there’s nowhere else to go at night…

They have many questions and comments for Mister Hotdog Man:

-“are u rich yet??”
-“WHITE POWER! Right?”
- “what are u even sellingggg?”
- “do you care if we do blow here?”
- “*unintelligible spanish*”
- “does this get you a lot of pussy?”
- “seriously bro how much do you make??”
- “lemme get a hotdog nigga”

One time, 20 Mexicans came around 3:00 AM. I started playing ranchero music, and we had a little hotdog dance party. They each ordered 2-3 hot dogs. I didn’t get home until 5:30 am, and didn’t go to bed until 8.

On weekends, after the last dog is sold, I’m the last soul on Main Street, and except for my Waylon Jennings, it’s dead silent.

It’s lonely.

Stubborn dish pans and slow days. A lot of sitting around. No coworkers. No certainty. No relatability. The friends I make come and leave quickly.

“Fun Sucker Dream Crusher”

What is life without a job well done and a dose of hedonism? One goal of life is to enjoy a vibrant and dimensional journey.

I’ve tipped over the edge and lost years of hard earned progress. I’ve lost friends, torched beloved bridges, and scared the ever living hell out of the ones I’ve loved most. I’ve slumbered entire weeks away and faced vast shame and guilt against my psyche. And oh yes, I’ve worked until my eyes feel like they are bleeding. I’ve petitioned God for sleep, to the point of my zombification.

The pain, the joy. Feeling everything and then absolutely nothing. Crashing the ship into the rocks, rebuilding it piecemeal, and navigating to shore despite all odds.

Go ahead, work and toil as wholly necessary to drive your progress, but never sacrifice joy or deprive even a single day of a laugh, smile, or story. You will regret it as I have. Dynamic individuals claim a serious stake in both their ferocity and their leisure. To be wholly consumed by either is to rid a soul of either joy or progress.

Balancing oneself is the risk mediation tactic against tipping the boat too far and capsizing. Steering directly in one direction throws off the equilibrium. The soul requires the pressure release valve of tactful navigation. Yin and yang, leisure or battle. Keep the arrow straight, lest you risk wasting your fate or striking a bystander.

“Beige Work”

As man, to work is to live. To battle the great beast of life is honor; but it has been sickly twisted. Men toil with mediocrity and beige-colored everything. The only true beast that a twisted modern life presents is to conquer thyself completely in order to mercilessly work. No beige work. Only red-hot work, fueled from the coals of love, pain, and war. Work that furiously attempts to reclaim what was lost to the depravity of beige. Reject the beige; step into exploding color and embrace a radical idea to conquer everything within yourself. Be red and blue and bright exploding shades of green, orange or neon, but never beige. Reject blind complacency and never drift into that drab zone that weak men are coddled into. Break fluorescent lights and burn your khakis.

Art p.3 “Kanye”

The most compelling, outrageous, multi-dimensional, complicated individual in recent time is Kanye.

He’s pioneered and forever changed the most popular music of my generation. Each of his albums explore themes with unique; profound production and lyricism, and his early work completely reformed the landscape of hip-hop. He did something nobody had done before.

His struggles have been epic and against all odds. Born into poverty, he became the best at his craft through sheer will. Surviving a death defying car crash, his mother then died at the rise of his fame. He has severe bi-polar (like yours truly). Despite his propensity to go nuts, he makes beautiful things and strives for greatness, despite great pain and confusion. He never expresses doubt, and is a self-admitting narcissist.

Kanye often talks of faith along deep seated struggles. Metaphysical forces like demons, degeneracy, sin, temptation, and spiritual war are a constant theme. He speaks of every human emotion on the list.

He is a faulty individual, and even became a Nazi for a stint. Huh.

Each of his albums, outfits, stage sets, and even his words are meant to provoke, question, and change culture. An undisputed captain of industry.

90% of his music is fantastic and successful beyond measure. My fascination with him stems from relation. He is sleepless, has robotic energy, manic crash-outs, and depressive slumps. He is often scared, confused, but believes in the Grand Plan fully. Unquestionably Ye is a man of faith and professes the word of Christ, which adds another layer of fascination.

Ye, unlike most, has touched every spectrum of emotion and social trend. He has traveled both the physical world, and the inner workings of the mind and culture. He is both tortured and redeemed on every level.

He symbolizes the dichotomy of our complicated world. I don’t believe anybody today will be able to understand him completely. Only the most brilliant, troubled souls of human history would relate.

They could never make me hate Kanye.

My favorite album right now is 808’s, Donda, JIK, or Graduation. Hard to say.

In closing: He made that bitch famous.

Art p.2 “The fall of Lucifer”

My previous post wasn’t a great launch. No caption, no context. High contrast. Emotionally potent. Scary, dense, holy warlike themes. People may have thought it was “concerning,” “weird,” or lowkey schizo.

Maybe a demon being stabbed to death isn’t the softest landing. Maybe a biblically accurate angel is a bit jarring. Showcasing Lucifer’s resentment upon being cast from heaven? Hardly lightwork.

Shout-out to the two people who liked it, lmao.

Did you know the artist Cabanel was only 24 when he completed “The Fallen Angel”? For the first time in history, he brought imagery to the moment of Satans creation. To reiterate, Cabanel was 24 years old and painted the legendary painting depicting the fall of Satan.

The entire story and painting actually inspired Anakin Skywalker’s fall before he became Darth Vader. A tragedy. I still shed a tear when I watch The Revenge of The Sith. He was the chosen one and fell prey to ultimate temptation.

Anyway, it is a very bad idea to stage a mutiny against God. (Or the Jedi order). That’s the point, the damned point. A hypocritical point, and an eternity threatening point.

Whatever. Two likes my ass.

Enjoy some funny surrealist art with animals as a palate cleanser.
