I was invited to a lunch with a certain Oscar winners manager when I was 25. I read TDWP and saw the 1st film the day it opened. It became my favorite movie very fast. At this meeting, the manager told me that I should be writing rom coms “like the devil wears Prada” (I assume bc I was young and female?) Not knowing my place, I argued with him for an hour on why the film was not a rom com, insisting the film was smarter and that it was really about a “girl and her career” … I didn’t want this guy to think I was gonna write lifetime movies, so it was a hill I was willing to die on. Let’s just say, I ended that meeting without representation. Lol. But from one “smart fat girl” to another I knew that Andy would be proud of me for knowing that wasn’t the right place for me… (there was no fountain to throw my phone into, but you get it) #thedevilwearsprada #mirandapriestly #thatsall 👠 by @whatangiesays
