🪔 Fourteen years ago, when I was a first time mom searching for Diwali books to share with my little one, there weren’t nearly as many options as I would have loved.

🪔Fast forward to today, and I’m so thrilled (and a little emotional!) that I could barely fit all the beautiful Diwali books I wanted to share into a single image. We have come so far with more and more diverse books coming out each year.

🪔So, without further ado, here are some beautiful books to celebrate Diwali, share our traditions, and make special memories with your kiddos! ✨📚 by @whatarewereading

🗳️ Choosing not to vote shouldn’t be an option! Your voice matters, and your vote is your power. We voted early today, and there’s still plenty of time to make sure you get out and exercise your right to vote. Every voice counts, so make yours heard! by @whatarewereading

🍁 If you’re looking for a sweet story that talks about how our emotions can change all the while using leaves to inspire creativity then you need to check out “I Am A Leaf” by Angelo Mozzillo and illustrated by Marianna Balducci.

🍂We adored the creative use of leaves in this story and can already think of some fun craft activities to follow up. We also loved the lyrical text that reminds us of how we feel, change, and grow daily.

🍃Thank you to @pubspotlight for sharing this one with us. All opinions are of course our own! by @whatarewereading

🐿️ We love squirrel in this house so you can imagine the excitement when we opened a fun box of fall reads from @sourcebookskids and this one was in there!

🐿️Squirrel and bird have been waiting alllll year for their pumpkins to grow. When they finally do, they have five fun and unique pumpkins but one by one they go missing! Will squirrel be able to track them down or is their hard work all for nothing?

📚As we wrap up #bannedbooksweek here is your reminder that it’s important to be aware of these books all year round. #readbannedbooks share them on your social media or with friends, write to an official, donate banned books to a local classroom or library, and most importantly PLEASE VOTE.

📚What banned book are you planning on reading next? I’m thinking about Fahrenheit 451! by @whatarewereading

📚These books are incredibly important for people to not only feel seen but for others to be able to better understand and empathize. When we choose to ban or challenge them it’s incredibly harmful for everyone. by @whatarewereading

📚When we ban or challenge books it erases the past, affects the present, and changes our future. Especially when we choose to ban those books that encourage us to think critically and speak up when we feel something is wrong. by @whatarewereading
