It’s been almost a year since I got sick and injured- I’m starting to feel like I’m back. The drawings will be lousy for a while until I get back up to speed but a beautiful day at the @parrishartmuseum is worth it no matter what. Haven’t been drawing for a few months while I’ve been recovering from spine surgery… first subway drawing page in what feels like forever. I’ve tried drawing a bit during recovery but after two months in bed, my core is weak and my hands shake a bit from all the pain and medication.I was on the way to teach and thought “let’s begin again”. Feel like it was an ok page and it was one of the few times a person that I was drawing snatched a glimpse and said “hey that’s me!” And smiled as they jumped off the train. Drawing is a return to life!!!! by @whatdidjpdraw

Much has been said in the past about our friendship and this drawing marks a turning point that has changed us both in many ways- here is @estebanog_art - the first time I tried to draw him, about a eight years after meeting him. We didn’t know it, but this “Weekend at Avi’s” was the beginning of big things. There are many, many more drawings that follow, most of them more successful than this. He’s a dear friend and an incredible artist. Love you, brother and I can wait for our next adventure! by @whatdidjpdraw

A quickie little tree drawing… probably 5 minutes… it’s easy to think you have to spent an hour drawing a tree (and they deserve it) but sometimes you gotta just put it on the page and move on. by @whatdidjpdraw
