‼️ Some important tech news to keep you and your accounts safe ‼️

Despite being on the "tech" side of the algorithm, I haven't seen all that much about this.

The largest data breach of all time happened a few days ago. With the advancement of AI these beaches are going to be even more believable and malicious.

I'm not a cyber expert, but here are some tips to keep your accounts safe:

🔓 GO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS (asap)
📱 Set up multi factor/two factor authentication, especially on important accounts like financials, socials, cloud storage, and emails.
📨 Be super careful opening attachments or clicking links - they will be coming from safe emails.
🖱️ If you did click on a link or attachment, and it's asking you to log in to something, DON'T, and contact the sender.
🗣️ Tell people if you've received spam from them so they can be aware they've been hacked.
📣 If you've been hacked, try to tell people through other channels that it happened so they don't open anything and perpetuate the cycle.
🗓️ Set up a regularly scheduled reminder to change your most important passwords, regardless of data breaches.
✖️ Stop using the same passwords for different accounts.

I personally use and am a huge fan of @1password and while I realize password storage is also a risk, it does help me have support complex and long passwords without the mental burden.

haveibeenpwned.com is a ✨ great ✨ resource to see if your email has been part of a data breach.

"I feel enraged, frankly, and feel motivated to stop it."

Thank you so much to the CBC for coming to my house (😱) and shooting for this segment for The National. And huge thank you to the collective effort that went into putting this letter together and to all of the supporters.

Not that anyone has asked, but every team member and reporter I've dealt with at the CBC has been so incredibly wonderful. Please make sure to vote for someone who does not plan to defund them. by @whatinthetech.co

About + Founder Why ⤵️

"Post-university I was working my “dream job” but had a really hard time with my mental health, which was brought on by a killer bout of insomnia (wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy!). From that experience I started exploring the importance of what we’re consuming, and the detrimental effects of excess caffeine and elevated cortisol. I fell in love with the way yerba mate and adaptogens made me feel, and knew I wanted to share these ingredients with the world in a fun and efficacious way. I partnered up with Julie, my awesome co-founder, and an incredible naturopath to help build our better for you energy drink, and was off to the races."

Biggest Win So Far 📈

"Building an amazing community of consumers and advisors we adore! (And Forbes feature lol)"

Hardest Learning So Far 🤕

"The grocery industry is such a beast. It’s so expensive from all angles - it feels like you’re giving a piece of the pie to everyone but yourself, which is hard."

📍 Toronto - 235 Spadina Ave. (open 7 days a week)

❤️ Our initial growth was largely due to word of mouth and we know first had how important it is to provide exposure and kudos to small businesses, so our ask is - please tag a women owned small business and brownie points if you include a little bit about what makes it special - as founders, those kind words make all the difference!
💰 LBD15 for 15% off your order!

About + Founder Why ⤵️

"Letterbox is all about celebrating special occasions with friends, family, colleagues, or even by yourself - we all deserve to celebrate more! We started Letterbox in the early days of the pandemic when celebrating with loved ones was difficult. We knew there had to be a fun way to not only celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc, but to make everyone feel special and unique. And that is how Letterbox came to be and we couldn't be happier to be on this journey! Nothing is more fun than dropping off Spiderman donuts to an 8 year old dressed up as Spidey himself!"

Biggest Win So Far 📈

"It sounds corny but any day we can help put a smile on someone's face is a big win. But if we had to choose a single "win", looking back I would say two moments really stand out. The first was two days after we moved into our own bakery we had a large corporate order for 1300 donuts - it was amazing and terrifying all at the same time! It proved we could do it and that we belonged #impostersyndromeisreal. The second moment was our first team outing/picnic. In the moment it didn't seem like a big deal but looking back, it's really special knowing that there is this team of people who choose to come into work every day, whom without we wouldn't have a business, so our second shoutout of the day goes to our team members - y'all are the best!"
