Hey friends! My name is Emilee and I’m new to this whole bookstagram kind of deal but figured it would be a great way to keep track of my journey of just rediscovering my love of reading and recentering my focus on activities that are helping me grow rather than just screens. Reading was essentially my first love and has remained that way since I first began to read and I’ve been so glad to be surrounded by friends who share this love of reading with me. There are a lot of new and friendly faces here so I just wanted to reintroduce myself in a less serious manner as I’m not the most serious person tbh! Outside of reading, I love sports (particularly baseball and F1), Pilates and barre, scrolling through Wikipedia for hours on end learning about trivial facts, sending snail mail, messing with color schemes and different font combos, and doing side quests because I can.Starting this account began as just me figuring out how much I enjoyed reading again, but when I realized I could combine my love of reading and just being a cheerleader with designing for fun, it became something super special. I’m so thankful to be able to just create and post about books I love on here with some other awesome readers and support a lot of amazing authors along the way 🫶🏼So here’s to many more great books and friendly faces I read and meet along the way — what a journey it’s been so far 🥂🔆 em aka whatsemileereading by @whatsemileereading

🤸🏻‍♂️ behind the bookstagram (again)!!I made one initial intro post and realized that wasn’t very telling about me at all so here’s another reintroduction!!My name is Emilee, I’m 26, and currently living in MS but travel a bunch for work!I love baseball, F1, barre and Pilates, video games, manga/comics, frozen hot chocolates (I said what I said), postcards, traveling with my friends, and taking pictures of everything.My current fave genres are really anything fantasy and romance, with a heavy emphasis on contemporary and sports books! I honestly read because I can and try to be as open minded as I can with the books I’ve got but now that I just got a Kindle, I can actually really read more without worrying about if I can afford it or if my library has it in yet!I’ve already been using this account for a bit to connect with other book lovers, finding recs, and just building that community! 🪷 I’ve dwelled on the idea of doing author services for quite some time, but I’ve had some amazing friends encourage me throughout this decision-making which culminated in yesterday’s IG story and formally launching a website that’s still very much in progress. So, in true “me” fashion, here’s my signature “mental break down” explaining a bit more of my why! 🏁 The Paddock Club by Madge MarilI love when a book feels like the literary equivalent of its very sources of inspiration — and The Paddock Club was one of those examples. There’s the obvious focal point of F1, but it was as loud a conversation about F1 and all of its cultural nuances and influences (both good and bad — depending on just who you ask) as it was a romance novel. And honestly, it feels like this was @madgemarilwrites at her best.Cat and Faust were just magnetic, electrifying, and glamorous — the true human embodiments of all the characteristics that make F1 exciting to me. And truthfully, it was honestly incredible to see two characters match wits and be fully aware of it. Their chemistry together was exactly what I needed to be reminded that it’s quite possible to feel a cosmic-level pull in just words alone.And if I compare the feeling I got from reading this book to any particular moment in F1 — I’d just say I read this entire book with the same rush I got watching the 2024 São Paulo GP as a Max fan. Take that as you will (and for those who may not be into F1 or just don’t care — it’s a feeling I’ll never forget).🔖 Thank you to @simonbooks for the early access and to Madge for nailing it once again — out everywhere now!!! 🥂 by @whatsemileereading

🔖 A while ago, I wrote a Substack article that gave me a chance to thank my favorite authors and let them know I’m a huge fan of their work. So, in a rush of creative flow state, I wanted my friends in on this too. It’s time for my bimonthly niche post — this time, tapping into my background in sports creative and indulging in the idea of imagining some of my current and upcoming favorite book guys as baseball players. And yes, there will be jersey inaccuracies. In fact, it’s all just a hypothetical. The best part of all of this is imagining all of the what-ifs with me. Please enjoy 🙂‍↕️(p.s.
