Brought in the passionfruit vines, and hoping to set some fruit over winter this year. This is the first flower I hand pollinated. Also going to try and save some pollen too incase there is self incompatibility. These are all seed grown edulis, from fruit off a purple possum. The original was actually hardier than the purple possum so I saved cuttings from it and brought them with us. One plant is a spontaneous seedling that sprouted in my sons whale tale sansevieria that i potted up. I have no idea where that seed came from as the plants were brought bareroot, and new soil was blended here. Perhaps in the coconut husk chips? As for the 2 cuttings Last year despite the move they still set a few fruit. This year I pruned it too heavily and it took too long to recover but does have some fruit. It seems like alot of effort but when 1 fruit is $3 in a local store, it doesn't take much to recoup the cost of lights. taken in Surrey, British Columbia by @whattranspireswhen

I'm amazed at the amount of uncommon tropical fruit we can find here, things we never saw in VA or SC. Certainly things I never expected to find in Canada. This is Salak also known as Snakefruit. The fruit of a spiney palm tree. It tasted like a crunchy pineapple core. Not juicy but sweet and pineapple. taken in Surrey, British Columbia by @whattranspireswhen

It still has a dozen large figs on it and it was just starting to ripen when the Rats found them. Now we have a new houseplant for next few weeks while they ripen up. 😃 taken in Surrey, British Columbia by @whattranspireswhen

Pileated Woodpecker in action. Didn't mind humans watching it work, but wasn't pleased with their furry friends that tag along. The picture of the ground was all the chip it had broke off the tree. taken in Cypress Falls, West Vancouver by @whattranspireswhen

Worlds largest Douglas Fir. Was a bit of an adventure just to find the trail to this thing. It's location is several miles back on logging roads, many of which have been decommissioned and there isn't good maps of it all without cell service of course. But it was totally worth it. taken in Red Creek Fir by @whattranspireswhen

Over the last couple weeks we have been working on the local Fjallraven Trail challenge. Today we submitted our progress and earned our Challenge badge for doing at least 5/10. Unfortunately one is on an island though so I doubt we will get all 10. by @whattranspireswhen
