Behind the Build series pt 2

For years, I felt like a failure. I was fired from almost every job I ever had. I couldn’t sit still, I challenged the status quo too much, and I never quite “fit the mold.”
But getting shown the door for the last time was the best thing that ever happened to me. It forced me to stop trying to build someone else’s dream and finally start building my own.
Today, Renovate with Chris is thriving. It turns out I wasn’t unhireable—I was just born to lead. If you’re currently feeling “lost” in your career, remember: sometimes the exit door is actually the entrance to your real life. taken in Houston, Texas by @wheelsupchris

40 Shades of Chris: The Season Finale. 🥂

This 30-40 decade tested me, reshaped me, and built me. Letting go of hoop dreams to become a full-time working man wasn’t easy. Facing layoffs and getting fired could’ve broken my spirit, but it became the catalyst to go all-in on myself. Creating Renovate With Chris proved that every door that closed was just positioning me to build my own.
And through it all, God gave me my greatest blessing: becoming a dad to my son. That’s my proudest build to date. 💙

Grateful for every trial, every win, and every step of the path. Ready for whatever God has planned for this next decade. Year 40, let’s go! by @wheelsupchris

40 shades of Chris Pt 3

From prison walls to court floors, this decade was pure wildness, growth, and hard lessons.

Starting off on the wrong side of the law, I was blessed with a second chance at life. I took that opportunity to North Carolina, hitting the court to play basketball and get my degree. I showed up on the court, but off it, the lifestyle started taking over.
The drinks kept flowing, the parties got louder, and the travel went so crazy my crew dubbed me Christopher Ciroc. But at 27, I married my rock, and everything shifted. Priorities hit different when you’ve got a wife by your side.
As the decade came to a close, basketball was fading out, and I stood at a major fork in the road: keep chasing a dream that was slipping away, or face reality head-on, pivot, and build real success for my future. by @wheelsupchris

Part 2/4: 40 Shades of Chris (Ages 10–20)

Ages 10 to 20 were a storm of absolute highs and brutal lows.
At 13, my world shattered when I lost my mom. I was just a kid trying to process an unbearable loss, but my aunt stepped in, took the mantle, and gave me a foundation when everything else felt unstable.
Basketball became my outlet and my refuge. By 17, I reached the top of the mountain—winning a state championship and earning a full scholarship to play ball in Alaska. Life felt fast, high-flying, and full of promise. But the story didn’t stay on an upward curve. I made mistakes, fell off track, and ended up facing hard time in prison.
That season stripped away everything, but it didn’t break me. Rebuilding from rock bottom forced me to face who I was and who I wanted to become. I bounced back stronger, sharper, and deeply rooted in resilience. Those ten years forged the man standing here today. by @wheelsupchris
