One year in LA 💛

Featuring an attempt at recreating an iconic scene from The Summer I Turned Pretty (🤭🤭) and not nearly enough pictures of the mountains I gawk at every day.

I can’t believe I get to be around mountains, that I used to pray to see anytime I would travel somewhere and now they’re my backyard. I can’t believe I get to be around orange trees- that they’re just AROUND, CASUALLY, when I’ve loved them my whole life. I can’t believe the friends I’ve made and the way God has orchestrated so many things- jobs, friends, housing- that I could have never planned.

Thank you God for LA.
Thank you for this year.
And I cannot wait to see what You do next 💛💛

Feb. 4th 2021 is the day I landed in New York.
It was something I never could have dreamed of for myself. An absolute gift from the Lord.

But I knew pretty early on that it wasn’t going to be forever. Not because that’s what I wanted, but because in everything, I pray and ask the Lord what it is that He wants. Because He knows best. And because I want to do what He wants for me.

And in praying about New York, hoping He would say to stay there forever, instead what I got was “5 years.”
And I fought it.
Tooth and nail, I fought it.
I didn’t want to be a “quitter”. I didn’t want to be one of those people that left after 2 years or 5 years.
But I also wanted to trust the Lord.
If He was saying 5 years, then it’s for a reason.

And 5 years it was.
Without me realizing it or trying to fight it or even trying to make it happen.

And so, this time last year, I left New York. And it felt right. It felt complete. Like my time was done.
And, when I look back on that time, all I have is gratitude and overwhelming awe at the beauty I got to experience.

New York was a gift. A GIFT. There’s no other way to describe it. It was something given to me by Someone that loves me and knows me and knew exactly what I would like whether I realized it or not.

God gave me New York because He knew I would love it. And that baffles me in the best way. Yes, there were also other very important things that happened. I would not be pursuing film & tv if it wasn’t for my time in New York. I wouldn’t have learned what I learned and grown in the ways I needed to grow.

But I do get this sense that a big reason God gave me New York is simply because He knew I would love it. And I am absolutely amazed and overwhelmed by that.

So, as I look at the calendar and approach one year of being in Los Angeles (WILD), I wanted to look back and share some of my favorite moments and things that made New York beautiful to me- including a plaque I saw in 2022 that I knew would be for a post like this one day.

So, to repeat what it says: New York, always thank you. Never goodbye.
And to add my own touch: You were a gift.

A full month and a full heart 🥰🥰 by @whenkarina

Felt like I should move this to the main page 🫶🏼

God has given us so many more chances than we deserve. And He still does. Which is wild and incredible and insanely loving.

And He’s done that from the beginning.

Last video on this, I promise! What an absolutely surreal day. I am still full to the brim and will be for many, many years to come 🤍🤍

I, Karina Padilla, was an honorary resident of Stars Hollow. Wow wow wow wow. 🤍🤍

“I got a personal phone, a work phone, and the only phone that gets reception in Stars Hollow. Theoretically.”

“Yes well, the fact that the entire town was actually constructed in a giant snow globe probably has an effect on your bar count.”

Unreal. Absolutely unreal.

Full to the brim ❤️🎄

If you had told me at the peak of my Tumblr era, when I was reblogging so many pictures of Disneyland and ESPECIALLY Disneyland at Christmas, that someday I would move to Los Angeles and experience this first hand- I would have screamed and cried and asked you “When?!?!!” 🤭🤭

I still can’t believe it actually happened ❤️

After all this time, after all the beautiful things God has given me, after all the years that have passed and me completely forgetting about this dream, He still knew that I would absolutely love to go to Disneyland at Christmastime.

And He gave it to me.
And it was better than I could have ever thought.

❤️❤️❤️

“And David danced before the Lord with all his might” with the follow-up of “And I am willing to look even more foolish than this” 🤍

There are a million things to take away from these verses and I am sure some very proper, scholarly theologian could tell you much, much more on these verses than I can, but this is what stood out to me about it and I thought I should share it with you 🤍

Oh would we celebrate the Lord to the point of looking foolish! After all, don’t you do that for those you love- celebrate them extravagantly, to the point of foolishness? 🤍 And what else are we willing to look foolish for?

Just a thought 🤍
