Hi! We thought it was about time to introduce ourselves. We’re Jack and Nora - a couple of best pals/ romcommoisseurs with an Adobe subscription and a dream.

We started this podcast for two reasons:

1. To celebrate our favorite genre by giving it the same time, attention, and respect given to “serious” films.
2. To have an excuse to do our favorite thing (hang out and talk about romcoms with cool people!)

Since launching in August 2025, we’ve been so excited to see the community that’s already starting to build around the show - and we have big plans for it to grow.

If you love When Rom Met Com as much as we do (or even if you just like it a little bit), here are some of the ways you can support it to continue:

- Recommend the show to the romcom lovers in your life

And, if we’re being honest, podcasting can get very lonely - so we get such a boost from hearing from our listeners! The best part of our week is reading comments and messages about the films and the episodes, hearing what romcoms you’d like us to cover next, and getting your weird and wonderful “would do, wouldn’t do, have done”s. So don’t be a stranger!

To quote the greatest poet of 1999 (of all time???), Katarina Stratford: “We don’t hate you. Not even a little bit. Not even at all.”

In this episode, Nora memorized the DVD extras, Jack won’t let you in the bed if you smell, and Paul shares the secret ingredient for a great zombie movie. Dust off your record collection, practice your zombie walk, and let’s save humanity!

The Romcom Scale: Our scientifically proven method for determining whether a film is more romantic, more comedic, or the perfect balance of rom and com.

Here is a rough approximation of where Vanity Fair’s 42 Best Romantic Comedies of All Time fall on the scale, from the most romantic (Love & Basketball) to the most comedic (What’s Up, Doc?) and everything in-between.

To assign one rating to each film, we averaged the numbers that Jack, Nora, and the guests gave - not a perfect method for the ones where we *really* disagreed, but who are we to argue with science??? by @whenrommetcom

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: From Hollywood with Love: The Rise and Fall (and Rise Again) of the Romantic Comedy by @scott.meslow (AKA the guest for our When Harry Met Sally episode!)

We both devoured this book while preparing to launch the podcast, and we’ve returned to it again and again in our research for episodes (as I’m sure you all know since we cite it constantly on the show)!

We highly recommend it for anyone interested in romantic comedies — it’s full of behind-the-scenes anecdotes, thoughtful analysis, and a genuine love, respect, and appreciation for a genre that is so often overlooked. And the audiobook is brilliant too! ❤️
