I’d like to share with you guys this very special 1m 28s of totality as I experienced it. No filter, no animation, no edits, nothing. Pure raw footage capturing the moment, the crowd’s reactions, all my emotions including me hugging my friends at the end. It goes without saying this video doesn’t do justice to how grandiose it all felt. Edited shots of the total eclipse from my camera coming soon. Stay tuned 🌞

Save this for your next trip! And if you strongly disagree with any of my picks, let me know. 😄

One of the questions I get asked the most is, “What’s your favourite country?”

After visiting 75+ countries and hundreds of places, I still don’t have one answer. Or at the very least, my whole top 10 is constantly being shuffled and rearranged as I gather experience. This being said, by looking at this list, you can probably tell I have a soft spot for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pakistan, Iraq and a few others. All for various reasons.

Every destination stands out for something different, whether it’s the history, the food, the landscapes, or simply how much it surprised me.

So instead of choosing one favourite, I gave out a few unofficial travel awards. I’m curious to hear your picks too

I was told to expect danger. Instead I found Roman cities, desert architecture, UNESCO sites, and enough history to keep me busy for weeks.

Let’s challenge the narrative together 🇱🇾

Meanwhile using my free time and savings to visit places most people would never even think about going — from the desert of Mauritania to the Gates of Hell in Turkmenistan

Not the most “normal” hobby… but it’s the one that makes me feel the most alive

So… red flag or green flag?

I carry a camera everywhere I go.

Partly because selling some of those photos has turned into a nice little side gig. But mostly because it’s my way of documenting life as it happens

Over time, it’s become a growing photo album of the places I’ve been and the moments I’ve lived. And every single time I bring the camera along, it ends up being worth it.

Current hobby: turning “Do Not Travel” into a bucket list

All jokes aside, I do think a lot of these Level 4 countries aren’t always portrayed fairly. Places like Iraq or Belarus are often reduced to warnings and and sensationalist headlines, but the reality on the ground can be far more nuanced.

If you blend in, use common sense, and avoid sensitive topics with the wrong people, nothing will happen to you. In fact, visiting places like these can be surprisingly eye-opening, i.e., the kind of trip that makes you see the world a little differently.

Would you ever travel somewhere with a Level 4 advisory? Which country?

A lot of people assume travel looks like resorts, fancy restaurants and perfect hotels in the usual tourist hotspot countries. That’s not really how I do it.

I favour countries with a bad rep, to showcase their realities beyond the headlines. Most of the time it’s basic rooms, grocery store meals, public transport, and the occasional unexpected centipede slithering out of your 1-star hotel wall. It’s not luxurious and it’s definitely not always comfortable, but it lets me travel far more often and see far more places in a single year.

I’d rather experience more of the world in its raw, everyday form than save up for one polished, curated trip. The rough edges are part of the experience and honestly, they’re often the most memorable parts.
