Sul nostro pianeta esistono 18 specie di pinguini, tutti con diverse caratteristiche che li contraddistinguono e di diverse dimensioni. 🐧

Nonostante nell’immaginario comune vivano tutti in Antartide sono sparsi in giro per l’emisfero australe e addirittura quelli delle Galápagos stanno vicino all’equatore!

Ho avuto la fortuna di poter vedere 6 delle 18 specie, nel carosello trovate qualche pinguino di Magellano con i loro due “collari”, un solitario pinguino Occhigialli con la caratteristica banda giallo pallido che attraversa gli occhi e si unisce sul retro della testa e l’iconico pinguino reale con la sua colorazione distintiva.

Conservo nel drive, invece, foto che purtroppo non rendono giustizia ai pinguini di Humboldt, pinguini minori e un pinguino di Snares, ma prometto che erano tutti carini come gli altri. :) by @whereisjude

Ritorno su questi schermi dopo un bel po’ di tempo, non so se sarò consistente come una volta ma sicuramente sono contenta di tornare a condividere qualche mia foto :)

Dunque riparto da Rapa Nui, l’Isola di Pasqua. 🗿

Esperienza unica e rara, anche se prima di andarci avevo dei grandi dubbi. Eppure è stato uno dei pochissimi posti tropicali in cui ho sopportato volentieri il caldo estremamente umido che ti fa appiccicare immediatamente la maglietta alla pelle. Il fascino e mistero intorno ai moai è troppo per non perdersi nei racconti delle guide locali e fantasticare un po’ su cosa succedeva qui prima che i colonizzatori facessero l’unica cosa che sono in grado di fare: provare a cancellare la storia. taken in Rapa Nui - Easter Island by @whereisjude

Yes, it’s that yellow house somewhere in Norway, but with a hooded crow on it.

I really wanted to see this famous spot in real life, but I didn’t want to take the same photo that’s been all over Instagram for years (see the last snap of the carousel), so I’m glad the crow showed up and rewrote the scene for me. 🦅

Mama ibex and her baby. Spotted these two from the car and got closer. We stared to each other for a bit before they slipped away around the corner.

Maybe I didn’t find them, they found me :)

Hi, it’s been a while!

Life got busy these past few months and I left my personal photography projects behind. At the same time, I felt so much pressure for not creating that I ended up being anxious about something I usually love.

So, while everyone else was creating plenty of good photos and videos during summer, I decided to wait until I felt calmer. No need to force myself or schedule everything just for this platform, but instead let things flow naturally ✨

It still took me ages to edit these photos from what’s officially the most beautiful trail I’ve ever hiked so far… so here are a few shots from a very happy day back in March :)

The Alpine marmot is one of the most iconic animals of the Alps. 🦫
It’s a rodent that lives high up in the mountains, between 1.000 and 3.000 meters, spending its days between sunbathing, grazing, and digging underground burrows. 🏔️

Did you know? That famous “whistle” you can hear in this video isn’t really a whistle, it’s a sharp alarm call. The sentry marmot has the role of watching over the colony and warning the others when danger is near. 👀 taken in Italy by @whereisjude

Milford Sound keeps reminding me that some places don’t lose their magic, no matter how many times you go back.

The Māori were the first ones to discover it, calling it Piopiotahi, after a now-extinct native bird. According to legend, the demigod Māui died here while trying to win immortality for humankind.

Centuries later, an explorer gave it the English name, but no matter what you call it, the feeling it gives you stays the same: like standing inside a dream ✨ taken in New Zealand by @whereisjude

Wind gusts up to 105 km/h, freezing cold and probably the best hike in New Zealand.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face around here. Lately, I haven’t felt fully comfortable showing myself on Insta, but last week @life.on.space took these photos of me while we were out looking for baby chamois.

When we booked the flights to Easter Island (which weren’t exactly cheap), I wasn’t even that sure about the destination itself. I mean, it sounded fascinating, but it wasn’t a top priority for me, especially compared to Patagonia. I even had a mini meltdown the day we bought the tickets (blame it on the budget panic 😅).

Little did I know I was about to live one of the most epic experiences of my entire time in South America. Rapa Nui is something else: remote, raw, powerful. Easily one of the most beautiful and memorable places I’ve ever seen. Definitely a big fat YES from me.

I still have plenty of footage and photos sitting in my hard drive, and I hope to start sharing more soon along with some incredible facts about Rapa Nui and the moai. 🗿 by @whereisjude
