So so freaking much to be grateful for lately. Let’s start with Afterlife. Feeling really blessed and thankful to have had this opportunity to stay in a beautiful house in a part of Australia I’ve never been to before (and officially obsessed with). To meet new people and make new friends and to share it with some incredibly inspiring women. Looking at you @geo.gresh @ohsograceful @andiebulley @nancealittle Dark Mofo was such a cool experience, Tasmania was amazing, thank you @espolontequilaau , @campariacademy_au & of course @zmynott and his team for taking care of us! by @wheresmy__drink

Alexander Scriabin was a Russian composer in the late 1800’s who’s work was deeply influenced by his experience with synesthesia. He claimed a deep red, or ruby, was heard as F on the chromatic scale, a deep enriching tone that floods our veins. Not coincidentally I’m sure, listening to the sound of a mid range note like an F note while drinking Johnnie Walker Black Ruby, can enhance the sweet, tart berry notes found from the PX sherry casks. Grab a nip, close your eyes and listen to the sound of slide 2 to see for yourself. But the sound of red can also be high pitched, something that alerts us to the sound of danger, or warns us of something fast approaching, say a firetruck? With one more sense to go, the reveal of my Johnnie Walker Black Ruby top 100 entry is just that, fast approaching. #boldstepsworldclass #johnniewalker@johnniewalker @katelikescocktails @jigrillet📸: @the.other.guide.to by @wheresmy__drink

The feeling of red is such an odd question, most people would answer in terms of emotions like passion or anger. But people with synesthesia have tactile experiences with warmth, or things of a velvety nature, that bring about that red imagery. How to translate this into a drink though? Well warmth is already there, with Johnnie Walker Black Ruby’s delicately smoky notes at play. As for the velvet? Cacao butter and lactic acid utilised as a fizz style serve create the perfect texture to experience a vibrant ruby. #boldstepsworldclass #johnniewalker@johnniewalker @katelikescocktails @jigrillet📸: @the.other.guide.to by @wheresmy__drink

Tasting red is easy, mostly we use our eyes and associate things that are red with tasting such. This is true for things like raspberries or strawberries for example. But digging a little deeper, the taste of red is often also tart, but not sour, sweet but not cloying. The tannins from red wine barrels that we taste in something like Johnnie Walker Black Ruby or pomegranates suggest that red is slightly bitter, drying. Colours can influence our perception of taste, but can taste influence our perception of colour?#boldstepsworldclass #johnniewalker@johnniewalker @katelikescocktails @jigrillet📸: @the.other.guide.to by @wheresmy__drink

The scent of red has long been explored by other industries. Perfumes such as Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door or Giorgio Armani’s Is Passione. How does a soap maker decide what scents to put in a ruby red soap? Red is warm spices, it’s cinnamon, it’s tannin, it’s mulled wine, it’s berries. If it was a whisky, it would be Johnnie Walker Black Ruby. Explore the idea of induced synesthesia yourself by trying to smell something you can only see through this series of images and videos.#boldstepsworldclass #johnniewalker@johnniewalker @katelikescocktails @jigrillet📸: @the.other.guide.to by @wheresmy__drink
