In a world where childhood now lives through screens, notifications, and algorithms, one millennial mom wanted her daughter to experience the kind of childhood she still carries in her heart.

Candice DelPercio, a Midwest author and mom, created My Mom Is a Millennial, a nostalgic children’s picture book inspired by growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Filled with references millennials instantly recognize, from AIM and dial up internet to video stores, disposable cameras, and boy band fandoms, the book has struck an emotional chord with parents who miss the slower, more present moments of childhood.

Hi 👋 I’m Candice! Since there are some new faces around here, and some of you have been here since the beginning, it felt like a good time for a little reintroduction.

I’m a millennial, mom of one, author, thrifter, nostalgia lover, and professional figure-it-outer.

I lived in Los Angeles for years and will probably always miss a piece of it. I’m also a HUGE Chicago Bears fan, my dog Ziggy is 11, and my music taste is basically everything. Truly. My playlists make absolutely no sense.

But nostalgia is kind of my thing.

I love the stuff that instantly takes you back. A song you haven’t heard in 20 years that suddenly makes you think of your crush from 7th grade. Walking into a thrift store and spotting something you had as a kid. Friday nights at Blockbuster. AIM away messages. The mall. Boy bands. Burned CDs. Inflatable furniture. Those random little things that unlock a memory you didn’t even know you still had.

That love of nostalgia eventually turned into My Mom Is a Millennial, a book I created so we could share a little bit of our childhood with the generation growing up now.

So whether you’re here for the book, the nostalgia, the millennial mom life, or just because you also still think 2002 was approximately 10 years ago...welcome. 💗

I was so busy having my own 90s summer that I forgot to celebrate. 𝐌𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥 made @amazon Top 100 in TWO children’s book categories in July!

📚 54 in Children’s General Humor Books
📚 76 in Children’s Fiction on Social Situations

As a self-published author with no agent or publishing house behind me, seeing My Mom Is a Millennial in the Top 100 alongside children’s books backed by some of the biggest publishing houses was a pretty wild moment.
