Ready for play! The Mahjong Room, an elevated ladies’ gaming space, is a place to socialize and score, where the bubbly is always cold, and the tiles are always clacking!

WCD was thrilled to work alongside such a talented and creative collection of designers on the @lfshowhouse to raise funds and awareness for @iwschicago, a remarkable and important organization servicing Chicago children and their families.

So many made this fantasy room a reality. We owe our biggest thanks to @candpremodeling and @customwiringcorp_chicago who helped to transform the former Jewelry Room into the space it is today.

Special thanks to all our incredible partners:

Hi there— I’m Liz of White Couch Design — and I wanted to introduce myself. For the longest time, this little account had about 11 followers—my mom in New Jersey, my two best friends from college and a handful of very supportive Bots! Every time I come on, I’m flat out startled to see more folks popping over, and I always think I’m being hacked.

I’m a former first grade teacher — I spent my first seven years out of college teaching six year olds how to read and placing their little bloody fallen-out-teeth into special plastic tooth necklaces. My first year of teaching — I spent two weeks in the middle of July painting the bulletin boards of my classroom black— I was convinced that my student’s artwork would look more pulled together and truly pop against a black background. My co-workers thought I was nuts.

Fast forward many years, four kids, and multiple moves later. I live on the North Shore of Chicago, am an absolute sucker for an older home, and have never met a room I haven’t wanted to wallpaper.

When I’m not designing and trying to help clients pull together their own homes, I’m reading constantly, playing mahjong like a fiend, and cooking endless meals for my children, which sometimes go uneaten.

If you’re new to my little corner of the internet, welcome. I can only promise inconsistent posting, glimpses of feral children making performance fabrics work overtime, and hopefully some pretty things here and there! xo ESAS 📸: @erinkonrathcollective by @whitecouchdesign

This beauty is ready for Prime Time at The Winnetka Edit!

We found her at High Point (but she’s French, obviously!) so we had to trick her out in some gorgeous @lamaisonpierrefrey!
(Thank you @kayleigh_pierrefreychicago 😘)

And, if you buy a ticket to Friday night’s Opening Party or Saturday’s exhibition, she could become a shining star in your entry, or tucked at the end of your bed, or nestled somewhere in your living room!

Buy your tickets for The Winnetka Edit! (November 6th and 7th at the @communityhouse_winnetka)

WCD Lately:
- @lamaisonpierrefrey showroom at the mart is a little slice of heaven
- no broke boys (my favorite song) playing at @samuelandsons @steffdussias wishes she didn’t know me
- cringe outfit one
- @kravet1918 for all the colors
- the lovely gals @cowtanchicago make the most exquisite sample bags! Every sample is a perfect square!
- cringe outfit two (a lovely evening with other local NS designers! 💃💃)
- one umbrella fosters a sibling bond 🤣
- the hardest working design gals I know! @samanthavanna @steffdussias
- office rule: you have to match the walls at least once a week @steffdussias
- loads of scheming coming together
- fresh bathroom paint!
- my yearly Mammogram (I keep calling it my monogram this week which I’m obviously blaming on my perimenopause! I see Dr. Farag in the Gold Coast. I pay out of pocket for immediate results which is an absolute luxury that I always feel lucky to be able to pay.)
-cringe outfit three: but this time you get to watch me double stuff myself into a rain jacket while I wear another jacket!
- petty cash for the office! Any 90’s girls remember Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead??? Every time Christina Applegate dipped into the Petty Cash box, my heart would skip a beat! Imagine having access to a box of cash!?!! I couldn’t even fathom it when I was 12. by @whitecouchdesign

These babies of mine are 8 years old today. They are the funniest little duo, and continue to make us laugh every single day. We never expected or planned on twins (who ever does?!) but it’s truly difficult to picture our world without them.

It feels like just yesterday I was turned inside out with exhaustion, draped in babies, who always seemed to have the knack for crying at the exact same time. Time really is a thief.

Happy birthday to Ford and Willa, our forever babies. by @whitecouchdesign

The art is by The Heirloomist. The adorable children are by Liz Sherwood.

This will be a shameless endorsement post for Liz and her design firm @whitecouchdesign because she decorates with purpose and meaning and I’m obsessed with her and if you need an example, she got tired of her kids asking for water bottles all the time so she had a stylish drinking fountain installed. I rest my case.

A few years back, we worked with Liz to photograph seemingly everyday items— a beach towel and some tiny beach shoes—with the intention of capturing some sunny sandy moments in time to hang in the family’s summer home.

Well these days the kids are not so tiny but the sacred sandy spirit of the home endures. So much so that @homeworthy paid Liz a visit for a house tour.

We’ll put the link in stories or head to homeworthy.com/watch where you can adventure through rooms with Liz as your guide as she shares the magic behind all the art, ideas, and design that make the house a home.

It’s a party for your eyes and soul. And hearing the stories of her Heirloomist art directly from Liz was a treat for my heart. Watch out for a cameo of the oh so chic drinking fountain too.

Liz, we’ve always been so proud to be a part of your thoughtful spaces. Congrats my friend! taken in Cape Cod, Massachussets by @whitecouchdesign
