Easily the most memorable part of our Alaska trip was our very first stop in Ketchikan. We booked a UTV tour that took us on native land for a beautiful ride with amazing views. We were a very small group of only about 11 people total with riders and staff.

At the end of the ride, we were enjoying the views from the ocean inlet by their UTV company cabin. Suddenly, a pod of orcas came to the surface, swimming around and hunting. Not only was this the most incredible experience on the trip, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I can’t explain what it’s like to see orcas in the wild, in such an intimate setting. Even the Alaskan staff were moved and had tears in their eyes with how special it was.

Looking back, I cannot believe how lucky we are to have been a part of that moment. taken in Ketchikan, Alaska by @whitfish12
