Crested Caracara

The northern caracara has a length of 49-63 cm (19 to 25 ins) a wingspan of 118 to 132 cm (46 to 52 ins), and weights of 701 to 1'387g (1.545 to3.058 lb). Average weight is considerably higher in the north of the range, smaller in the tropics. In Florida, 21 male birds averaged 1,117g (2.463 lb) and 18 female birds averaged 1.200 g (2.6 lb) In Panama, males were found to average 834 g (1.839 lb) and females averaged 953 g (2.101 lb). Among caracaras, it is second in size only to the southern caracara. broad-winged and long-tailed, it also has long legs and frequently runs on the ground.

Northern Bobwhite

The Northern Bobwhite is a ground-dwelling species found in grassland, pines forests, and open fields. While they usually stay on the ground, they are able to fly short distance to escape predators. There are 22 different subspecies of northern Bobwhite with some being popular game birds. Unfortunately, this has led one subspecies, the masked bobwhite (Colinus virginianus ridgewayi) to become endangered.

Swallow-tailed Kite, a species of Hawks (Accipitridae)
The species is 50 to 68 cm (20-27 in) in length, with a wingspan of approximately 1.12 -1.36 m (3.7-4.4ft). Male and female individuals appear similar. the body weight is 310-600 g (11-21oz). The body is a contrasting deep black and white. The flight feathers, tail, feet, bill are all black. Another characteristic is the elongated, forked tail at 27.5-37cm (10.8-14.6 in) long, hence the name swallow-tailed. The wings are also relatively elongated as the wing chord measured 39-45 cm (15-18in). The tarsus is fairly short for the size of the bird at 3.3 cm (1.3in). Young swallow-tailed kites are duller in color than the adults, and the tail is not as deeply forked.
