To think back to March… I went into surgery knowing I was going to fight like hell to come out the other side, but not knowing what that fight would look like.

One of the things I was so excited and looking forward to was teaching my boys how to ride a bike. Going into surgery, I was terrified that I might never get the chance to do that.

Thankfully, I got the outcome I prayed for. And from that moment, all I wanted was to smash through recovery and get back to doing the things I loved.

By Father’s Day, I had bought us all new bikes, and I got to teach Huddy how to ride with pedals.

A moment I was once scared I’d never get… became a memory I’ll cherish forever. So incredibly blessed, grateful and thankful to be here, riding and making these memories with my boys. 🥹🫶🏾 by @whoishayds

Those who know, know what we’ve been through over the last few months.

Looking back now, more than anything, I just feel grateful for everything. For the surgeons and nurses who looked after me, and the best possible outcome. Grateful for my family. Grateful for Grace, who carried more than most people will ever realise. Grateful for my kids, who unknowingly gave me a reason to keep pushing through the tougher days.

I’m incredibly grateful for those who stepped up when things became uncertain. Those who checked in, helped my family, showed up when we needed it most, and simply cared. You know who you are, and I’ll never forget it.

I’m grateful for the amazing staff across both of my businesses who kept things moving while I focused on recovery. Watching people take ownership and genuinely care makes me incredibly proud.

I’m grateful for the experience itself. It slowed me down. It gave me perspective. It reminded me not to take my health or even the little everyday moments for granted.

It also gave me clarity not about others, more about myself. It really showed me where I need to be investing my time and energy from now on, leaning into connections that feel genuine and reciprocal. It’s just good confirmation that the things I've been building and pouring myself into are exactly right

Life can change pretty quickly. One doctor’s appointment after 16 years turned into MRIs, specialists, immediate surgery lasting almost eight hours, nights in ICU, and now months of recovery.

But if there’s one thing I’ve taken away from all of it, it’s how incredibly lucky I am, and how much it’s deepened my faith and relationship with God through it all. I can see now it wasn’t just luck getting me through it . I can see His hand in every part of it. Lucky to still be here and moving. Lucky to have the family I have. Lucky to have the friends, staff, and people around me that I do.

the challenges, the lessons, the support, and the perspective im genuinely grateful. by @whoishayds

To my sons,

In a world built on convenience, I still want you to see effort.

Be intentional in how you love. Never forget what your mum and your grandmothers have sacrificed for us . The time, the care, and the parts of themselves they’ve given without asking for anything back. Let that shape how you show up for them.
