We spent the evening filming the State of the Arts Night inside the Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries Building, once known as the “Palace of Invention.” Opened in 1881, it blends Victorian, Romanesque, and Byzantine styles, centered on a soaring rotunda with four wings that radiate outward like knowledge spreading into the world. Over the years it has showcased marvels like Edison’s light bulb and the Wright brothers’ Flyer. This time, it was filled with music and artists from across Europe.

We were there documenting Maryland Heritage Award winner Spyros Koliavasilis, who carries forward Greek traditions of rebetiko (Greek blues), smyrneika, and world jazz.

I was strapped into an Easyrig with the Red V-Raptor for most of the night but still managed to capture a few stills.

Typically on our Productions team, we all collaborate together from Pre-Production to Post-Production to make videos for our clients together. For the sake of efficiency, we took on official roles and I got to direct this one! 🎥🎬
I love working with this team, we are all so silly together but we get the job done 😂 And I also enjoyed working with talent like @__.m.a.b.e.l.__ who was a natural star on camera 🌟 and made the process so much more fun. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait for more experiences like this. 💖
