✨JOY in the Wild 🌿

Just… wow!🥹

Gathering and co-creating a safe space in nature to move, meditate, laugh, reflect, share stories, and witness one another- helps us see those invisible threads that shape how we experience life. And how it’s all connected to a bigger picture.

What always moves me is the mirroring.

Women from different backgrounds, carrying different stories, realizing that they recognize one another on a deeper level because beneath the surface- the core processes are very alike.

The guilt, the shame, the responsibility, the pressure, the longing. As children of immigrants, many of us inherited survival strategies that once served our life circumstances.

But now, for the first time in our lineage, many of us are learning how to move away from that.

Going from surviving, to actually living.

And that shift is rarely simple.

The intention to hold these spaces comes from a curiosity about the duality of our human experience. Light and darkness. Hope and fear. Laughter and tears. Endings and beginnings. So much of life exists in the space between extremes, and deeper transformation often begins when we allow ourselves to hold the fullness of it all, as it is.

To choose joy, pleasure, rest, presence, and aliveness is not superficial. For many of us, it is revolutionary.

Thank you älskade @whossheilla @ubuntu.base for co-creating this beautiful event with me, you are an incredible inspiration of a woman!🌹 @babas_dotter for capturing these moments like a dream, you are a true talent(!), and a very appreciated support🌞 And to every woman who showed up with an open heart and made the experience absolutely beautiful✨

Your vulnerability, wisdom, and presence reminded us that we are far less alone than we sometimes believe!

Joy in the wild is not an escape from life. It is a return to it 🤍

A night of spoken word on who we are and how we find our place.

Library Sessions and Third Culture Kids invite you to an intimate live performance with Kodjo Akolor - Swedish-Ghanaian storyteller and host, known for moving between humor and honesty - and Melissa Kawooya - writer and spoken word artist exploring identity, memory, and lived experience.

Together, they move through the idea of code switching: how we shift between languages, cultures, and expectations depending on the room, the people, the moment.

In conversation with Badin - Beyond Surface and Mask, the evening reflects on selfhood, power, and what it means to be seen through someone else’s eyes.

This poem is called ocean.

This is my story.

I first and foremost wanna say thank you to my tutor Ludvig, for pushing me to stand on the stage so shortly after I started the poetry workshops.

This is my debut preforming with my poetry. I am still processing what happened yesterday… I am honestly moved beyond words. I honestly don’t remember going up on stage, all I remember are the faces in the audience. I remember the teary eyes. The focused faces. My friends all cheering me on.

The second I sat down, I broke down in tears. It was so relieving to just pour everything into my poem. And I could really feel the presence of my ancestors on the stage.

Thank you to anyone who came up to me afterwards. I didn’t expect my poem to move so many people. The kind words, hugs and smiles means so much to me.

Also thank you to my friends who came to support me yesterday. I am so incredible blessed to have such a strong support system, and amazing friends. I love you so much, and it wouldn’t have been the same without you there.
