Board Certified Health Coach | 1 Retreat Spot Left! Nov 11-16 | Plant-Based/ Flexitarian | NYC ➡️ Westport, CT

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
🪴 Meet the Founder: Alexis Hawes, NBC-HWC 🪴

On the first day of autumn, we’re talking foliage, Compo walks, and how to give your system a fresh start this season.

The board-certified health coach traded fashion week for farmers markets (we actually met her at @vivsveggies!). Welcome to Westport, Alexis!

Alexis Hawes, NBC-HWC, found her way to wellness through an unlikely door: luxury fashion. For a decade she ran client relations for the industry’s top tier, with a calendar built around Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks. The glamour was real. So was the toll. Eventually her body and mind asked her to stop, and she listened, stepping away to come home to herself.

That pause became the pivot. Alexis trained at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and built a practice around the very questions that reshaped her own life. How do you feel at peace in your body? How do you eat in a way that supports your hormones and your gut? How do you quiet a nervous system that has been running on overdrive for years?

Through Alexis Hawes Health, she works one-on-one with women on hormonal health, gut health, weight management, and nervous system support. Her weekly newsletter, Evolve, carries that work to a wider circle, and on Instagram, @whyieatplants, she shares her plant-based approach to living well.

This summer, Alexis left NYC for Westport with her husband, Marc, and their two dogs, Kingston and Rigatoni. After ten years of city speed, the slower rhythm here has changed how she cares for herself. It is, fittingly, the same rhythm she has long taught her clients to find.

Next up: Marrakech. This November, Alexis hosts her second wellness retreat in one of her favorite places on earth, a week devoted to grounding, nourishment, movement, and connection.

Her Westport
The farmers markets. The trails. Morning walks on Compo with Kingston and Rigatoni. And a community she is thrilled to call home. We’re lucky you have you here.

I’ve been asked so many times why I never posted our wedding… and I can finally share that it’s because @voguefrance wanted to publish it first!

To say we’re honored would be an understatement.
Being featured in Vogue has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl — one I thought I might fulfill through a career in fashion. But to be recognized for something so personal, rooted in intention, sustainability, animal activism, and our love story, is a moment I’ll forever cherish.

My hope is that our wedding inspires others to live more purposefully, love more deeply, dream more boldly, and infuse life’s celebrations with the values that matter most ❤️

Merci, Vogue France, and to everyone who made our weekend so unforgettable, we are forever grateful.

Notre Amour xx

If you needed this today let this be it ✨ I am a huge manifester and I have the track record to back it 🤭 I know that it’s not every day these big wild dreams of mine will come true, but every day is another step closer. Every setback is an opportunity to make space for something bigger, every win is a confirmation I am headed in the right direction, and every experience is unfolding exactly as it is meant to be.

What are you manifesting?! Right now I am all in on getting pregnant and growing our family, and although it hasn’t happened yet, I know it will exactly when it’s meant to 🤍

The viral chicken recipe your whole feed has been obsessed with but make it higher in protein and fiber, and vegan 💁🏻‍♀️

Here’s why this version is worth making over the original:

The hero is the beans. One of the most protein-dense foods on the planet. 26 grams of protein per cup, more than chicken by weight, with 11 grams of fiber and zero cholesterol. That protein and fiber combo is what makes beans one of the most blood-sugar-stabilizing meals you can eat.

The spinach brings iron and folate. The tomato paste concentrates lycopene, which research links to skin protection and heart health. The olive oil is anti-inflammatory. The raw garlic brings allicin for immune support.

A full dinner that leaves you full for hours. Not spiking you and crashing you an hour later.

Use your bean of choice, if you like something more firm opt for lupini beans but if you want something softer try cannellini, chickpeas, or kidney beans, that all work beautifully.

Twenty minutes. One pan. Creamy, cozy, and secretly packed with everything your body actually wants and needs!

Comment MARRY and I’ll send you the full recipe.

When your bestie invites himself over on a Tuesday and shows up on Thursday, there is no other Californian I’d rather host 🤍. It was so fun showing you my farmers market, mahjong, needle point, and veggie eating life in the CT burbs.

Also seeing our Trojans win their first whiteout game at Penn State didn’t hurt! Riggs and I are already having withdrawals already 😘 by @whyieatplants

I’ve been sent a lot of meal delivery boxes but there is nothing even close to this 🤭

@hamptonsaristocrat partnered with Top Chef champion @chefsamtalbot to create what might be the most luxurious at-home meal experience I’ve ever seen. Everything arrived in glass containers nestled inside a beautiful wooden box, with the sheet pans you need to cook each dish included.

The ingredients were stunning. Fresh in a way you can see and taste. The flavors were restaurant-quality. The attention to detail was everywhere, down to the packaging.

This is the kind of service I’ll be recommending to my clients who don’t love to cook but still want healthy, chef-crafted meals delivered weekly. If you’ve ever wanted the ease of meal delivery without the typical meal kit feel, this is it.

Currently available in New York City, the Hamptons, Connecticut, Westchester, Long Island, Miami, Palm Beach, and Charleston.

Here’s what I know for sure… the smallest moments of being seen have shaped me the most.

A stranger telling me they loved my recipe. A friend saying out loud that she was proud of me or cheering me on. A client mentioning something I said months ago that stuck with her.

It only takes a few seconds to share a kind thought, and all of a sudden you’ve made someone’s day/ week. And when we’re lucky, we all have a moment someone said something that’s stuck with us for a lifetime.

If someone’s effort moved you, tell them. The person whose thought changed the way you perceive something? Let them know. If you can see someone is trying, name it out loud.

The person in front of you might be hanging on by a thread you can’t see, and your words could be the thing that saves them. Tell them 🤍

Here’s the thing… the second people know you take your health seriously, everyone has an opinion.

They notice everything. What’s on your plate. What you’re drinking, when you’re not.

For so long I felt like I needed to justify myself. Both for eating healthier AND for letting loose and enjoying myself. The judgment came from both sides.

I noticed it the most when I first explored sober curiosity back in 2021. My family and friends had a harder time accepting that I didn’t want to drink than I did. The peer pressure felt too hard to manage when I would drink occasionally so I ultimately went fully sober for 3 years.

During my wedding era, when I let the occasional glass of wine back in, I was met with confusion and sometimes more judgement.

And alcohol is just one piece. I get these comments about dessert, fried foods, processed foods, eating dairy or fish, all the time. And I get it… I’m a health coach. I open myself up to more eyes on how I live.

But I’m also human.

Here’s my fundamental health coaching philosophy:
There is room for all of it.

I believe salads are best eaten with a side of fries. I love to indulge in dessert, especially when I’m celebrating something, which is one of the biggest joys of my life. Sometimes I’m fully vegan. Sometimes I eat dairy and fish. I’m fluid with how I eat and I don’t let it restrict or define me.

Instead I tune into my body. I eat seasonally. I indulge in foods that bring joy, but I also know what makes me feel my best. I do what’s best for me in that moment.

And what works for me might not work for you. That’s the whole point.

So the next time you comment on what someone else is eating, or someone comments on what you’re eating, come back to this post.

There should be no rules, no shame, and no judgment when it comes to how you support your body 🤍

I’ve never met a potato I didn’t like but these are next level 🤭

Here’s something most people miss about this combo: cheese actually makes the potato better for your blood sugar. The protein and fat in the mozzarella slow your glucose response to the carb, and leaving the skin on adds fiber that slows it even more. You’ve turned a simple carb into a balanced bite.

Potatoes get a bad reputation, but they’re one of the most nutrient-dense carbs you can eat. More potassium than a banana. Vitamin C. Resistant starch that feeds your gut bacteria when you boil them first. B6 for your nervous system.

The real sin isn’t the potato. It’s the seed oils, refined sugar, and additives it comes with when you order it fried. Or when you peel the skin and purée it removing its fiber.

Instead these are a healthier take on cheese and potatoes. Doctor them up with any dipping sauce you love (I used a dill dressing but ranch, sour cream, hummus, whatever you have in the fridge). No added oil. All delicious.

Comment POTATO and I’ll send you the full recipe and be sure to follow @whyieatplants for more real food recipes.

And I’ve had all of them… 😳 Do any of these resonate?

I used to think I was just an angry person. Someone whose body “just looked that way.” Someone who needed caffeine to function and wine to unwind. I was losing hair in the shower and chalking it up to genetics.

But that’s the thing… it wasn’t my personality, bad genetics, or just what life was. It was cortisol.

Chronic stress keeps your body in survival mode. Your hormones can’t balance. Your gut can’t heal. Your sleep can’t deepen. Your brain can’t rest. We normalize it. We call it being busy, being high-achieving, being “fine.”

The scariest cortisol symptoms are the ones you’ve written off as personality or “just how your body is.”

Here’s the thing. You don’t have to accept it. I’m living proof of that. Instead you have a choice, to take back your power and align your habits to a life that feels like YOU.

Comment CORTISOL and I’ll send you my 5 favorite ways to start rebalancing yours.

SICK SEASON ESSENTIALS 🤒

I got hit with whatever’s going around a few days ago, and my system is already weaker than most, so it knocked me down harder than it probably should have. I didn’t even have my immunity bombs made yet, so I improvised: fresh ginger, lemon and honey steeped into tea, cup after cup.

What’s gotten me through the last few days:

- Italian penicillin soup, on repeat
- Fresh ginger lemon honey tea, several times a day
- Humidifier by the bed and windows open to air things out
- Actually resting instead of pushing through
- Natural herbs and remedies (I love @gaiaherbs throat spray and immunity gummies)
- A lot of cuddles with Kingston and Rigatoni, which might be underrated immune support

With such a sensitive stomach, and after an adverse reaction to the Covid vaccine (a story for another time), I always reach for natural remedies first. Not because I’m against modern medicine, but because food, warmth, and rest is what my body craves.
