A big day for us. 🩶

Today, I sat on him and walked for the first time since starting his rehab. Stall rest since April. A Tenex surgery. Hand grazes. Hand walks.

It might look like a very small thing, but after everything it took to get here, it feels huge.

One step at a time. One walk at a time.
So grateful for this horse and for the people helping us get here. #horsegirl #seniorhorse #adoptedhorse #warmblood by @whypoli

Nutrition! Not just forage and forage and more forage and grain. We have a routine of probiotics, grass balancer minerals and now a fresh salt stone from @redmondequine #seniorhorse #horsecare #horsenutrition by @whypoli

It started when an unexpected retirement announcement made my heart skip a beat. Then I crunched numbers for weeks to make sure it was possible. Then my heart grew by 1300 lbs. 💕🥰💕🥰💕🥰 #adoptedhorse #seniorhorse #horsecare #warmblood #horsegirl by @whypoli

The slow feeding hay net is a great tool to keep em busy and have some yummy hay for the forage portion of their diet. But also helps me learn his fun personality and watch this nose dive technique to get the hay in the center. Cutie patootie. #adoptedhorse #horsecare #horsegirl #horsesofinstagram by @whypoli

Meet Sterling. He is an 18-ish year old Warmblood - more on that soon! He enjoys apples (usually in 1 or 2 bites), carrots, fig newtons and Stud Muffins, scratches on the shoulder and withers. He likes long walks on the grass, rolling then getting up to do zoomies, and head butts. Does not like - large dogs running at him full speed 😅, being told not to roll, standing in a wash stall, standing in cross ties, standing in a trailer. Welcome home my love! #warmblood #seniorhorse #adoptedhorse by @whypoli
