Its not too often I run into a car that I'm completely clueless on what it is and have to do a ton of research to fully understand it, let alone it turn out to be an extremely rare car. To my understanding, this car started out as a regular v6 mustang but became the official concept and press car for the 2007 Shelby Terlingua. In the early 2000s, Ford was struggling selling v6 mustangs, so they asked Shelby to create a special package for them to help sell more. What he ended up creating was a fairly affordable track car for newer drivers, and humiliate v8 cars on road courses. The package takes the stock v6, and adds a Paxton supercharger, borla catback side exit exhaust, and other performance mods to bring it to roughly 400hp. For better handling, they gave it track focused suspension and 6 piston big brake kit. They also made many changes to the interior and exterior, completing the look of the car. Altogether, this was roughly a $19,000 package, and you had to provide the car to Shelby. The name "Terlingua" comes from an old ghost town in Texas that Carrol Shelby, Dave Witts, and Bill Neale bought to mess around in. They turned this ghost town in to a fake city, even giving it a coat of arms, which was a jackrabbit crest designed by automotive artist Bill Neale. This name and crest was later used to form the Terlingua Race team which Carrol Shelby featured the crest on his 1965 Shelby cars. Later it became a full livery for the 1967 Trans-Am season. The 2007 Shelby Terlingua was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the teams 1967 Trans-Am victory, featuring the same iconic livery. They initially intended on building about 75 Shelby Terlinguas, but only about 39 are known to exist. This exact car is extremely special because it was used to debut the package at Sema, and is the car used for press releases and media. It is also signed by Caroll Shelby and Bill Neale on the dash, with a photo of Carroll Shelby signing it. If you read all of that thanks for taking the time, i just thought this car was extemely cool and deserved its own post and please correct me if any of that is wrong!
