You are safe with me. 💕 One of the most important things I wanted to make sure while directing “Steel Magnolias” at @conejoplayers was to make sure every actor, every tech person, every designer felt seen, heard, and safe. Everyone had equal voices to me. If a costume felt wrong for an actor, Dei helped to create something else for the actor. If there were concerns about prop safety, Dona and Jaye helped correct it. Rick’s team and Dana helped with set safety. I did my best to listen to every actor’s concerns and make sure I protected them as acting is so vulnerable, and I listened to them. We are not getting paid. We are doing this because we love it. 💕 Safe spaces for theatre should be a requirement, not an afterthought or the exception. I encourage everyone to advocate for themselves, as I made sure my team and actors did. We are a small theatre community, and I am appalled by hearing how actors were treated at a different theatre with one director. I also want to say again to all - you will ALWAYS be safe with me, be heard by me, and I will make sure your concerns are also heard. taken in Conejo Players Theatre by @wiccabuffy
