Picture book author/MARTINA'S MUY BAD DAY (2025, Harper)/THE PERFECT GIFT FOR MAMI(2027, Harper)

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of the music, language, stories, traditions, and joy that connect generations and cultures.

I love seeing little moments like this—where Spanish, English, music, and storytelling all live together.

This little one knows exactly how to celebrate: "Turn up the música!” 💃🏻

One day my mom and I were sitting at her kitchen table and she very nonchalantly told me an incredible story from her childhood in Colombia. My heart skipped a beat. I said, "Hold that thought!" And grabbed a pencil and a scrap sheet of paper.

That scrap sheet of paper became something magical: a book that expresses the love between mother and child. The love she shared with her own Mami, and now the love I share with mine. It still blows my mind that we get to share that love with the world.

This one is so meaningful to me I'm seriously considering getting a tattoo of little Pepito the Pollito. Don't tell my dad! 😂

THE PERFECT GIFT FOR MAMI is coming from @harpercollins on March 2, 2027 and is now available for preorder! (Link in bio!)

Thank you to my critique partners, agent @agentnaomidavis and editor @saraschonfeldbooks for bringing this book to life!

Had an absolute blast launching MARTINA'S MUY BAD DAY into the world! We had a MUY BAD DAY fiesta complete with balloons, cake, MUY BAD DAY lists, and confetti! Plus, we filled balloons with all the different ways we cope with bad days. Check out how Ann Arbor does MUY BAD DAYS! #kidlit @aadlgram by @wickmelanie
