🧄 No Double Dipping! 🌿
Our young gardeners turned hard work in the soil into delicious treats in the kitchen! From planting and nurturing the ingredients to preparing the final dips:
🧄 Year 3 & Year 6 Teamwork: Year 3 grew fresh garlic and Year 6 grew basil, combining their harvests to whip up a tasty Edamame Bean Dip!
🧅 Year 3 Flavour Masters: Year 3 also grew their own onions and transformed them into a delicious Garlic, Onion & Herb Dip!
From seed to snack—making everything themselves. 😋🌱

🫖 Tea, Treats & Thank Yous! 🌸
Our incredible volunteers give so much to our school—from keeping our grounds beautiful to working alongside our children—so it was our turn to give back! ❤️
Our amazing pupils pulled out all the stops to host a wonderful Volunteers’ Afternoon Tea! Every single child got stuck in and did it all:
🫖 Laid the tables to perfection and arranged fresh flowers
🧁 Baked warm, fresh scones and made delicious sandwiches
💐 Prepared for service, welcomed our guests, and served tea with huge smiles
🎶 Sung for our volunteers and hosted a fantastic afternoon from start to finish!
Seeing every child step up to host with such pride and care was absolute magic.
To all our volunteers: thank you for your time, heart, and dedication to our school family. We hope you enjoyed your special afternoon as much as we loved hosting you! ✨

Shoreline Explorers 🌊

Year 3 headed down to the shore this week. Spotting sea‑washed treasures, they were curious, confident and completely in their element. Sandy shoes forgotten about as they got stuck into real‑world geography fieldwork - connecting classroom learning with the world beyond the playground.

Year 6… Pied!! 🥧💦

Last night Y6 faced your final primary school challenge; bravery, teamwork… and being mercilessly cream‑pied by your teachers!

You’ve spent the last seven years growing into kind, funny, determined humans and we couldn’t be prouder. So obviously, the only sensible way to celebrate that was to blast you with water while you attempted tasks that no reasonable adult would approve!

🌼 NGS: Opening Gardens, Supporting Nurses

On Sunday our school gardens and grounds were opened for the 14th year, welcoming visitors to wander through the orchards, woodland, allotments, fernery, and all the spaces our children learn and grow in. 🌿✨

By opening through the National Garden Scheme, every chat in the sunshine, every donation made helps raise vital funds for nursing charities - supporting the nurses, carers, and hospice teams who lift families through their hardest moments. 💛

Thank you to everyone who visited, explored, and celebrated what our children and staff have built together.

🏰✨ Year 1 at Portchester Castle

Year 1 visited Portchester Castle last week with @englishheritage , exploring the Roman walls, the keep, and the quieter corners that tell the story of the site. The children asked sharp questions, noticed details adults often miss, and enjoyed learning in a space that makes history feel real. A calm, focused day of outdoor learning.

Year 2: Fort Purbrook Adventures 🏹🎯

Year 2 have had an incredible two days at Fort Purbrook!

They’ve thrown themselves into archery, orienteering, laser tag, the string trail, climbing, clay creatures, den building and team games - plus a big evening treasure hunt that had everyone racing around together.

They’ve tried new foods at breakfast, lunch and dinner, eaten brilliantly, slept well, and shown huge resilience and teamwork throughout. A proper adventure… and a very successful two days for our Year 2 explorers! 🌿💪

Growing Promises 🌱

Have a read all about @louisegardens_ who is a horticulturist @wicorinsta Primary School in Portchester. It is a school that believes in nature, incorporating it into the curriculum, building the quiet care that keeps the school thriving, and proudly caring for a school allotment.

Louise has also worked on some great projects in Portsmouth, including a container project @southseacastle , which I had the pleasure of helping with in National Volunteer Week, on the 4th of June with @_goly.natural

The green-fingered gardener has also helped with a brilliant project with the @thecoastalkitchenfamily to help them set up a community garden in Milton.
