The man, the myth, the legend

BTS video shoot with @nfl great and famed Widener alum Billy “White Shoes” Johnson and @wu_coms students.

White Shoes was on campus talking about his playing days at Widener. The video is being created to support his Pro Football Hall of Fame nomination.

And we can’t think of anyone who deserves to be enshrined in Canton more than White Shoes.

🏈

A Delco native and two-time All-American, White Shoes attended then-Widener College from 1971-73, where he scored 62 touchdowns and shattered 9 @ncaa records wearing the blue & gold of @widener_fb.

A wide receiver & return specialist, most of his NFL career was spent with the Houston Oilers (now the @titans) and the @atlantafalcons.

He was a pioneer of the end zone dance, which he began doing during his Widener days.

🏈

White Shoes was named to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary All-Time Team as a punt returner in 1994. He was part of the first class inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. And in 2014, he was inducted into the Widener Athletics Hall of Fame. Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, wearing blue shirt and gray pants and a Widener hat, sits on a chair in the end zone of the Widener football field. by @widener_fb

3 picks, a pick-6, and a shutdown on a game tying 2pt conversion. What more could you ask for? 🏈
