Throwback to last week Reel Women Talk

For Episode 2 , we sat down with writer and director Mezan Ayoka @ayzhaproductions for a conversation all about script supervising.

Ever wondered who keeps track of every line, every take and every continuity detail on set? Mezan broke it all down for us, from the page, to the set, to the edit.

Here’s a short clip from the session.

Reel Women Talk is WIFTJA’s monthly series connecting our members with experienced practitioners across film, TV and the creative industries.

Follow @wift.ja so you don’t miss the next one!

MEMBER OPPORTUNITY: CALL FOR SHORT FILMS 🎬

From November 25 to December 10, the world observes the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. It begins on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

To mark it, WIFTJA is putting together a selection of short films for an upcoming showcase. We want stories that look honestly at gender-based violence and the issues around it:

1. Abuse in its many forms: physical, emotional, sexual and economic
2. Survival, healing and reclaiming power
3. Consent, respect and healthy relationships
4. The silence, stigma and systems that let violence continue
5. Communities, families and individuals pushing for change

Why does this matter? Film can do what statistics can’t. It puts a face to the numbers, opens up conversations we avoid and helps audiences recognise what harm looks like.

As Caribbean storytellers, we have a responsibility to tell these stories with truth and care, and on our own terms.

📌 Open to active WIFT-JA members
⏱️ Runtime: 6–15 minutes
📩 Send your screener link to wift.ja@gmail.com by Monday, October 19

Let your work be part of the conversation. 🧡
