RECLAIMING INDONESIA’S FOOD CULTURE IDENTITY

Long before our food culture became what we know today, the archipelago was shaped by its native staples and extraordinary diversity of spices. Sago nourished communities for generations, while our spices connected Indonesia to the world and shaped cuisines far beyond our shores.

Sago & Spice: The Taste of Heritage is presented by Javara in collaboration with TAMU and Chef @barasupercook, as part of Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet (WIG), an initiative by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.

Together, we revisit our roots, rediscover overlooked ingredients and traditions, and explore how these elements of our culinary heritage can continue to shape the future of Indonesian cuisine.
