This is part 2 of my story. A lot of what I teach comes from mistakes, and this is the biggest one.

Early on, I thought washing a wig was like washing anything else. So I poured hot water on it to clean it. I didn’t check what the wig was made of and I didn’t read the tag. The wig didn’t survive.

I was so annoyed with myself. But that wig made me start asking better questions.

👉 What is this made of?
👉 How much heat can it take?
👉 What does it actually need before I touch it?

Now I check the fiber and the label first, every time. Nobody should have to ruin a wig to learn that.

Tell me your hard-learned wig lesson in the comments so the next person can skip it.

A wig isn’t just a wig. Human hair, heat-resistant synthetic and standard synthetic are different materials, and they react differently to heat and water.

A method that gives one wig a fresh look can frizz, melt or tangle another.

Before you try any trend, find out what your wig is made of and read the care label.

Then test on a hidden strand inside the wig first. If the label says no heat, listen to it.

A trend can’t tell you what your wig can handle. Only your wig can.

Nothing makes wig care harder than a head that wobbles. You pull the comb through, the whole stand tips, and you end up tugging the wig instead of detangling it. That pulling is how lace and wefts get stressed.

I fix it two ways.

✅ First, I make the base stable. A clamp stand attached to a table doesn’t move, or I add weight to the base so it can’t tip.

✅ Second, I pin the wig so it doesn’t slide. Canvas heads hold pins better than foam, which loses its grip over time.

You don’t need a full salon setup. You need a steady base and a wig that stays put.

The free guide in my bio is a good place to start if you’re building your setup from scratch.

Save this for the next time your wig head tips over.

Detangling can feel endless. You finish one side, feel proud, turn the wig around and there’s a whole second side waiting for you.

It gets worse when you start in the wrong place. If you go at the roots first, you push every knot down into one big tangle and pull on the lace while you’re at it.

What helps me is clipping the hair into small sections, starting at the ends, and working up with a wide-tooth comb or my fingers. Small sections feel slower, but they finish faster than fighting one giant knot.

You’re not bad at this. Nobody showed you the order.

Tag the friend who disappears for 3 hours on wash day.

You wash your wig hoping it’ll come out fresh. Instead it comes out dull, frizzy or just different, and now you think it’s ruined.

Don’t panic yet. Most of the time it’s one of four things. The hair type, because human hair and synthetic react differently to water and products. The water temperature. The products, since some shampoos strip moisture that a wig can’t replace by itself. Or the way it was detangled while wet, which is when hair is at its weakest.

Go back through those four in order and you’ll usually find the culprit. Next wash day, change one thing at a time so you know what actually fixed it.

The free guide in my bio has the basics if you want them in one place.

Comment which one it was for you:
hair type, water, products or detangling.

When I moved abroad, I still wanted to change my hair every week or two like I did back home. Then I saw what a sew-in cost here and I almost gave up on the idea.

I was a student. I wasn’t going to spend that on hair, but I also wasn’t going to stop looking like myself.

So I taught myself. YouTube showed me how to install my own sew-ins, and that’s how I found out I could sew bundles onto a cap and wear it as a wig, then take it off at night. I started making my own from bundles I already had.

People started asking where I was buying my wigs. I wasn’t buying any. Then women began asking me to style and revamp theirs, and teaching came after that. This page is how I do it now.

Follow for part 2, where I tell you about the wig I ruined.

I'm asking real questions here and I genuinely want answers.

What's the idea behind it? Does it wash it better or is there something am missing on here?

#washingmachine #wigwashing #wigrevampboss #wigstyling #wiglovers by @wigrevampboss

I kept telling myself I'd start when things were more organised.

When I had a proper setup.
When I had enough content ready.
When the timing was better.

But the timing was never going to be better.

I just had to start.

What pushed me was a conversation with a woman who had moved abroad a few years before me.

She said the thing she wished she'd had when she first arrived was someone who had already figured out the practical things and could just tell her what actually worked.

Not a Google search.
Not a forum with conflicting opinions.

Someone who had lived it and could speak from that place.

And I realised I was that person for this specific thing.

Not because I have credentials.

But because I have five years of doing this, first for myself and then for others, and actual results to show for it.

So I started the page.

The story I share isn't just background.

It's the reason everything I teach comes from a real place.

And if you've been on this page for any amount of time, thank you. 🖤

Because every time someone says, "This helped," or comments that they finally understood something that had been confusing them…

That's exactly why I'm here.

More next month. Stay close.

Follow — there's so much more coming.
