Last week we had a mini W+IGS celebration at Leeds to say goodbye to our outgoing Chair, Professor Ingrid Sharp. It was such a joy to gather past and present committee members and to thank Ingrid for her committed, inspiring, feminist leadership during turbulent times. 💜

In Ingrid’s own words:

“I was very touched by the thoughtful and generous gift and will use it for my trip to Glyndebourne next summer. Seeing all you inspiring ex and current committee members I was also struck by how much we at Leeds have contributed to as well as benefitted from WIGS+ over the years.
I learned so much from my time as WIGS+ Chair. It's a special organisation and I do miss my role, but plan to remain an active member at future conferences.”

Swipe to see a photo of Ingrid at Glyndebourne in 2022 for the UK premiere of Ethel Smyth’s The Wreckers—she wore a suffrage sash in honour of Smyth, who also composed The March of the Women for the suffrage movement. A perfect feminist full-circle moment as we celebrated Ingrid’s legacy!

Thank you, Ingrid, for everything you’ve done for W+IGS — your leadership, vision, and care have shaped the organisation in extraordinary ways. 💜
