I'm still here...😁 I started making & wearing my handmade garments outside in February 2024. After 2 1/2 years of constant sewing, it caught up with me πŸ˜† For the 1st time in my life I had to switch out spring/summer clothes for fall/winter. I have NEVER done this! I bought vacuum bags to accomplish this. 🀣 The pillows above are a by-product. I had a few garments that I no longer wear or like so I shredded them into scraps along with the existing scraps from cutting out new garments and stuffed these. Pic 1 & 2 are both sides to one pillow. Pic 3 & 4 are both sides for the other one. I brought them to work thinking 2 coworkers would receive one pillow each. Nope! One coworker snatched both! πŸ˜† Thanks to @patchworkhues and @geehaledesignz for sparking the ideas to create knit pillows. #sustainability #blacksewingnetwork #sewover50 #menwhosew by @wil_gsu
Time will always move. Johnny Butler Sr has taken his rest. He has reunited with Constance (wife), Ms. Marguerite (mother), Uncle Ben, Aunt Brenda & Uncle Fred. Of course, there are many more ancestors but these are my immediate ones. ❀️ Uncle Johnny is Mama's brother. He said yes to a lot of moments. The first yes was life. After birth he wasn't expected to live. He remained in the hospital and the situation was so dire, my grandmother didn't name him. The nuns gave him a name: Johnny. It was his maternal grandfather's name who passed away over a decade before. He started to heal... He came home and moved slow but he moved. 😊 My Aunt Brenda talked too fast and he had a studder but he continued to talk until the studder disappeared. 😊 Yes to walking & talking for a child who man said would die but God... He said yes to the marching band in high school and college. He was able to visit Japan because he was in the marching band at Grambling State University. He said yes to a degree in Computer Science. He was now an engineer starting his career. He said yes to the love of his life, Constance Marie Guy. They moved to Houston. She started her career as an educator. They had a son, Johnny Jr. The engineer started having dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. And while expecting a daughter, Ingrid Marie, he purchased a formerly closed grocery store in Franklin Louisiana and returned home. Yes to marriage. Yes to fatherhood. Yes to Butler's Food-A-Rama. He wasn't just my uncle, he was my 1st boss. 😁 He gave me my 1st job. I counted penny candy, chips & cokes with amazing proficiency. πŸ˜† And the hot link sandwiches with mayo, mustard, chili and cheese are still legendary! Plus the boudin! He too became an educator teaching at Franklin Junior High. His love of the community and the future generations expanded and became his staple. Yes to his neighbors. Yes to possibilities. Yes to guiding others to hope, dreams and life. He was moving fast & steady until his cohort, his brother, the heart of Butler's was nearing the end of his journey, Uncle Fred (Bruh, if you Really knew πŸ˜‚). His passing πŸ’” slowed down my Uncle Johnny. Continue under 2nd pic And then...the l by @wil_gsu
No matter where & No matter who...folks will show up ❀️ Kris came for a visit. A meet-up was planned. Boom! πŸ’₯ What a time! What a joy! It was wonderful. And they stayed for me. πŸ˜† I forgot my wallet in the car because I happily found a parking space & squeezed in! Between checking the parking lines & curb, I grabbed my bag & walked to the train station. Sitting on the train, I looked for a card...no wallet! I had to turn around. I finally made it just in time but no food to eat πŸ˜… After hugging Kris, I said "If you weren't here...Bump this! Back to my hotel." 🀣 Hugged friends from before and met new ones... Happy Anniversary to BSN! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚ #blacksewingnetwork #sewover50 #sewists by @wil_gsu

I'm outside again! My look suggested I was headed to Carnival Day in Brooklyn. Nope! πŸ˜† I actually scheduled to meet a very kind sewist friend at a local fabric store. πŸ™‚ Ms. Belinda is so nice ❀️ And she brought her kids. πŸ€— That was extra sweet. @belinda_sews_it Another "laid back it's Friday set" πŸ˜‚ Some of you many think I'm joking when I say I wear all of my makes to work but the last pic proves it. I wore it to work on Friday several weeks ago. Fabric @fabricmart #blacksewingnetwork #sewover50 #menwhosew #memade by @wil_gsu
Hi πŸ‘‹πŸΎ It's been over a month since my last post. I was sick 😫 and it took over 3 weeks to get well. At first, I thought it was allergies and was on the mend. Then it came back with a vengeance and I thought it was Covid. Nope! I had a sinus infection...geesh. Never had that before and it took me down & out. The antibiotics worked and I'm back. πŸ˜‚ Even when I'm sick, I'm still sewing just not as fast. πŸ˜† It's still co-ord season and I love this corporate short set from summer to fall. 🀣 I didn't wear the jacket because of the temp but still wanted to show it. I was OUTSIDE today and will be the rest of the holiday weekend. I made a bunch of the sets so more to come for the next few days. πŸ€— #blacksewingnetwork #sewover50 #menwhosew #memade by @wil_gsu
