When the tornadoes and severe storms hit North Texas, we showed up. And today, as changing weather fills our shelter with pets from our own community, we’re showing up again.Every pet that comes through our doors deserves safety, care, and compassion — and we’re giving them just that. This morning, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter took in 13 specials dogs. WCRAS is assisting longtime partner Tall Tails Rescue and Transport following severe hail and tornado damage to their facility in North Texas. Tall Tails has played a critical role in regional lifesaving efforts—including response support during the Central Texas Floods—and has helped nearly 300 WCRAS dogs find new beginnings over the past two years. WCRAS anticipates continued need and is prepared to take in additional dogs affected by the storm. Continued support from the community—through fostering and adoption—will directly determine how many more animals can be brought to safety. Beginning Monday, April 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., these dogs will be available for foster or adoption at both WCRAS locations: Main Campus: 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX Red Poppy Adoptique: 100 W L Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX How the Community Can Help Foster: Short-term fosters are urgently needed to create capacity for incoming dogs. Adopt: Adopting opens immediate space for additional animals in need. Dogs transferred from the storm-impacted area are also available for adoption. As a thank you, a generous donor will provide adopters of these dogs with a gift card (while supplies last). Share: Help spread the word by sharing this effort with friends, family, and local networks.
